As long as Checkers isn't bringing in the wood slivers via the kitchen cabinets, bathroom cabinets or furniture legs I guess I'd let him do it. By the way if he does get into your furniture, my puppy obiedience trainer said to put a drop of the bad tasting stuff (bitter apple, etc) on his tongue way back (say where the tonsils would be) for him to remember that nasty taste. She said a drop on the end wouldn't work because the tip of the tongue tastes sweet things. She said then he would associate the taste with the smell on the cupboards. I so hope she knows what she's talking about.
