Well, Dillon has never once chewed on ANYTHING of ours. We have leather couches, there is wood molding, an oriental rug but nothing. He is 14 months old now and he has not once chewed on anything that is not his. He has a berber ball slumber ball in the living room and has his soft crate in the bedroom..which he loves. we were going to let him sleep with us and while he will lay in bed with us for a little while, within an hour he jumps off our bed and puts himself in his crate ( and then i zip him up inside) he has a memory foam orthopedic mattress inside and his own special fleece blanket incase he gets chilly or wants to snuggle up to something...and he has never ripped any of that apart. Is he completely abnormal?
Now, lets talk about his toys...berber toys get chewed apart in minutes...i bought a whole display ( 80 toys in total) of zannies berber toys in a lot of different animal shapes and colors so he can destroy as many as he wants whenever he wants. Any plush toy is destroyed in minutes and he will destuff them completely. I got him a crackler skunk toy made by fatcat inc and that tough material was no match for him, it was earless in 10 minutes and had part of a leg ripped off. I dont give him rawhide as he tends to choke on it and if he does successfully eat it, he gets constipated followed by the runs, so no rawhide for my guy. I give him kongs, and granola filled beef shin bones ( wowser's granola bones) and while he has to start them outside on the deck ( they are sticky on the outside) within 10 minutes he can come in the house and eat his bone without making the house a mess. He loves these bones and they last a while with him... I got him the fire hose toys and he did not destroy that quickly- it took him a long time to wreck it. I got him the tough toys by ruff dog- he has not been able to destroy that. But it is a catch 22, if it is easy to rip apart he loves it, if he can't rip a toy apart, it soon becomes not fun for him.... with the exception of the squeaker tennis balls and football ( his favorite toy ever).
