What an ass! I wish I were on the east coast so I could drop the "husband" off at the local "high-kill" shelter!!!

Karma, baby...

This is an absolute contrast to one of our members whose senior Corgi has lost the use of her back legs and has been provided with a cart to enable her to move around and get much better enjoyment out of life.

Oh, How sad, and his name is Cody. He looks like a doll. There are too many stories like this with all types of dogs I would send this wanna be traveling husband off on his own with his bags packed(for a long time). Just this last summer there was a Corgi named Yogi in a rescue near me and he had been relinquished by the only family he had lived with because he had developed incontinence problems and he was 11 - shortly thereafter they found out he had cancer.

What I don't understand is why would he give Cody to a "high kill" shelter, don't they know there is a Corgi rescue they could give him to.

There is something wrong with that ad. They have stipulations as to the living conditions, etc but then threaten with a high kill shelter. It doesn't make sense. I also would give that husband a good talking too or send him off traveling alone.

Actually it is really easy to travel with a senior boy. I did it for years. You just have to watch the heat index and how far you walk them and don't leave them in the car in the heat. Commond sense stuff. It makes one wonder what they have been doing with him for the past 10 years. That guy is probably 50ish - going through his change of life. Now I am not saying that all men go through this but I have seen some extreme cases. LOL

Cody looks so sweet! It's just very sad and probably more typical than we realize!

I bet with this guy the dog, the kids, and the wife are all expendable....

Welcome to my world. <sigh> Corgi Rescue is aware of Cody and has been since he was first listed before Christmas. Offers to assist have not been taken up on. He is still in the home and until the owner decides to let someone take him or finds the "perfect" home, hands are tied.

Deb,

I give you so much credit for what you do. I don't think I could keep my composure - in this Cody case, I would probably give them an earful that they would not want to hear. How ironic, they want the "perfect" home for him, yet, they can't provide it themselves.

I agree - I'm not sure I could deal with people like this on a regular basis and remain civil. You are a "Steel Magnolia" Deb. And it does seem very strange that they would refuse help from Corgi Rescue, which has the best chance of placing him in the "perfect" home. Poor Cody - I hope he finds a good home soon. grrrrrrr . . . .

I guess I'll just never understand some people. This is awful! You'd have to kill me first before you ever took one of my pets from me. My husband and I laugh all of the time about "staying together for the dogs." We say how we'd fight each other for them if one of us decided to leave.

Okay, here's a question for you. Outrage and everything else aside; how many of you would offer to adopt or be a recipient of an owner re-home of this age?
