There is really no pros and cons of the cardigan and pembroke. The cardigan is bigger in size comparison with bigger ears also. They also have a tail which the pembrokes don't. I prefer the pembroke because they seem more active and friendly - not that the cardigan isn't. They all come in many colors so it really is up to your preference. I prefer the pembroke - tail-less butts are so cute and there are more pembrokes around than cardigans.

Oh heck.... just get one of each! Hahahaha!

My Pem, temperament wise, I think is pretty textbook. He's bossy, he thinks he's the mayor, he loves everybody he meets, he sheds, he barks, he is not an "alone" dog.

My Cardi originally showed a lot of the cardi temperament but she follows the lead of the Pem. They are two peas in a pod.

I love walking behind the bunny butt but I also love Lulu's tail flapping in the breeze as if she doesn't have a care in the world.

They are both wonderful and precious.

I sure wish I could, but I have to pick one kind of dog. So I want one of the two Corgi's. I might go with the Cardigian Corgi, because I have never had a dog with a tail before.

If you want a more composed dog - choose the Cardigan. If you want a more sociable dog - choose the Pem.

I am sorry I am just making sure. I do know I want to do agility. Everytime I see a comptitision my heart is so into it. I am not meaning to make you guys mad. I am just scared I won't pick the right dog. Rare or not I know I want a Corgi. Yesterday I wrote a poem about one. Silly isn't it, I am just in love with both and having a hard time choosing. Sorry again.

why don't you check out these two links for information. I have to agree with Emilie, in that you don't choose a breed of dog based on whether they have a tail or not. Do you just want a Corgi because they are cute?

Didn't you say that you are still in high school? What are your parents thoughts on your getting a Corgi? I know you said you are 18, so you are an adult, but you mentioned something about wanting to get a corgi next fall. Isn't that the same time you plan on entering vet school? - that is a lot to handle all at once; just starting college to become a vet, and a new pup entering your life at the same time. Sounds like your parents are going to be doing most of the care, so they should certainly be involved in the search for your pup and which breed will be a good match for your family.

No, I am a Junior. My parents like the idea. Also I don't just want the dog because it is cute. I am not an idiot. I have been doing lots of research and I love that they are easily trained. I like that they are smaller dogs. There is alot I love about this breed. I will still be in high school. I am getting it in July so I can get some basic training done before I have to go back to school. Then during school I will be getting up at 5 am so I can walk, play and feed my baby aka the puppy. I asked my mother to check on the puppy a few times when I am at school and feed it. Then I will come home around 3pm and spend three hours with it before I go to work. Then I will come home from work and take it out for another walk and have some more tlc. SO now do you think I am unprepared??? I have thought about it for a long time. I know it is hard to have a new puppy. I am up for the challenge. I know what I am doing, now please don't take into consideration I have am actually doing my home work and don't judge me by my age or the fact that I am in school.

wow, you found a breeder already that can guarantee you a pup in July; since you said you are getting one in July. Does she do agility with her dogs? I assume you put your name on her waiting list. I bet she asked you lots of questions and you got lots of info from her/him regarding getting a new pup and starting out in agility - your breeder should be very helpful to you.

That means you must have decided if you are getting a Pem or Cardigan -
So which one did you choose?

I haven't actually Found one, I have been talking to breeders. I want one in July. That way I have more time to spend with the little cute and do all the basics. I am pretty sure I want the Pem. I am will to go to any of the surrounding states to find a great breeder.

At what age do you think the puppy will be when you get him or her and what basics do you plan on doing?

I am hoping to get it at 8 to 11 months old. I want to potty train it and have it fully socialized. Some basic commands. I know it takes four months till a puppies bladder is able to hold it better. So I know it is going to take alot of patients and effort on my part. I am commited to making this work. I love this breed.
