Emma has always been upset with fireworks and thunder and guns.

Since living with Chloe who pays no attention to thunder Emma has calmed down and now doesn't seem to mind it. Fireworks and gun shot still bothers her but not as much. She use to go tearing thru the yard full force if we were outside when fireworks went off. Now she do a little woof and looks attentive but doesn't run off after the noise. I have always tried to stay calm during a storm so Emma would but it really has been Chloe's calming effect that has worked to best with Em.

CorgiMom: Let me also thank you for the time you spend sharing your Corgi(and computer)wisdom, anything that benefits Miss Gambler is greatly appreciated!

And speaking of fireworks, try having to go through the New Year's fireworks in Las Vegas! I always feel for the dogs. It's such a small valley and there is NO getting away from it and the sound just seems to echo off the mountains. I find that it is best just to turn on the TV full blast(or music) and try and drown it out, but even that doesn't fully work. There are CDs that you can buy if you wanted to attempt to get your dog acclimated to loud noises. Nature CD's, with storms and such, and I have seen CD's with patriotic themes, music and fireworks. There are also videos on the internet with firework displays that people have recorded and uploaded. I know that on one of the Las Vegas TV station websites, they post the Las Vegas fireworks and I'm pretty sure that the Stratosphere Casino's website has the Las Vegas fireworks in it's library. I am also willing to bet that you could find other major cities, such as New York and Australia, fireworks on the internet.
