Dillon shows some nervousness around umbrellas too...usually just when they are first opened or closed. Once outside when it is over my head he doesn't pay it any mind.

Emma's oddest behaviour is her Deranged Monkey Bark whenever higher pitched chimes sound off - she does her high pitched bark, runs in circles, then grabs my garden flag in attack mode. The chimes used to hang next to the flag but after seeing how wound up she got I took the chimes down. Low pitched chimes don't bother her...

Jackie is not a big fan of umbrellas, but as long as it is over MY head and not hers she's fine with it. She's too busy rushing to go potty and get the %$#@ back inside!

Here's a new thing I found amusing. Everyone has put up their Christmas decorations at our complex, and our neighbors have a new decoration this year - one of those lighted topiaries in the shape of a reindeer, and the head moves! Jackie stopped to look at it when we were out the other night, gave her head-tilt, and when it moved . . . she freaked! No barking or anything, she just jumped straight into the air and then hid behind me, peering around my leg. It was cute, but I didn't want this to turn into a big problem, so we have been practicing our sits and downs in the vicinity of the reindeer, so she learns it's no big deal. She's a funny dog. I am constantly amazed at the things she chooses to be afraid of.

Yo, Fluff-P,

I have a similar issue with decorations. We live in an apartment and every year my neighbour down the hall puts a wreath on her door. The first morning afterwards when we go out at 6:30 Rupert and Riley would freak - that wasn't there before!!!!! Bark, like you haven't heard before - I called it Riley's rooster crow - high pitched LOUD!!! We have tile floors in our hallway so the sound was amplified ten-fold! I'm sure my neighbours loved us!!! It usually took a couple of days for her to come to grips with the new addition, she'd give it one of those quiet "buff" barks to make sure that darn wreath knew she was watching it!

I can just imagine how loudly those barks echoed down the hallway! Clearly your neighbors should have consulted Riley before they chose their decorations!

We have someone in our neighborhood who put up some reindeer but they dont move...and Dillon was still wary! He gave the deer the stink eye! LOL he was not thrilled with them...I know he was scared of them ( shhh don't tell him I told you!) and if one moved he probably would have freaked out and ran the other way!

I'm anxious to see how Zia reacts when we put up our Christmas decorations. Our reindeer don't move. I'm not sure the outside decorations will bother her since she's not out front very much. The tree could be a different story, though. I'm going to just put the tree and lights up for a few days and see how she acts before I put my ornaments on.

My husband, who is a HUGE Disney fan, came in last Christmas with a dancing and singing Winnie the Pooh, Eyore, and Piglet. He had stopped at Walgreen's on the way home and saw it, but when he turned it on Miss Gambler immediately started Arrooing to it, and every time we activated it, she did that, can't wait to see if she'll do the same this year.

MGM- I had one of the HUGE (8ft tall) winnie the pooh ( i love everything pooh - eeoyre is my personal favorite though ) inflatable and lit decorations. He is sitting on a present and is dressed like santa clause and it runs on a motor that keeps him inflated ( I am sure you know what i mean) but i did not put it up last christmas so Dillon has never seen it. I wonder how he would react to an 8ft tall pooh!

Are you talking about one of those big motorized domes that you put in the yard? If so, that sure sounds like a photo-op to me, or better yet, a video camera going when he sees it for the first time.
