my Alpha update
Our 1st week of my Alpha Reign
With Debbie Glencorgi and Peggy’s help I have seen the error of my way. I was unsure what to do with The Girls fighting for World Domination over the past few months. Never having two dogs b4 this larger pack thing is still a work in progress. Now I see the World is mine and they must live peacefully in MY World LOL We went back to basic 101 - we have an electric fence and it was easier for me to hold open the door and let The Girls run in/out first and me follow. WRONG - Chloe over the past few months would start her play fights with Emma right after coming inside and that seem to set the tone for the next hour. Now we play by my rules. I go in/out first then they follow... Chloe is stopped with a big AAANNNNTTTT if she tries her WWF moves. No treat until they both sit like little Ladies by the door when they come in. Each time Chloe has tried to start something she gets called on it. By the middle of the week things had calmed down quite a bit between them. We had one almost fight yesterday evening. Chloe and Leah had been playing all afternoon and Chloe was a bit wound up. Em was next to me and Chloe came over - they started their growls and posturing. I yelled “NO Chloe - Emma STOP” and they backed away from each other and within a minute the tension was gone. Just call me Queen B*tch .... I have a tee shirt that says “you call me a beach like it’s a bad thing” with two girls laying in beach chairs...perhaps that will become our motto here is T-Gal Land. I think week 1 was a success - now on to week 2. Is there anything else I should add???

Wow! Sounds like you are really doing great with this. By being the alpha in your home, you take the pressure off the girls to have to fight to find out who is the boss, now they know YOU are the boss, no fighting tolerated.. Great job! I love this site that we have such experienced and supportive people here who can help us with our corgis! I am learning a lot too about the two dog thing ( i better learn fast - it wont be too long now before we get Gus!)
Great job with Chloe and Emma! Emilie |

Good for you T-Gal - not only in understanding what the girls were doing, but for acting on it. I'm sure that you will all enjoy this new calmer life. And yes, as Emilie said, thank goodness for the knowledge and experience of so many of our members here.

I have had to go back to basics again w/ my two. When it was just Tucker, we learned that I go thru the door first. Since Lulu was so young, I let it slide. It has become a wrestling match to see who can get out the door first. The growling doesn't seem threatening but it is annoying.
So we are back to sit, wait for the release, then go. Tucker was extremely put upon by the inconvenience but is making the best of it! A little refresher course never hurt anyone!

Week 2
We have been in and out all week and Son Chris and Leah watched The Girls while we were gone but progress continues... The Girls now sit pretty when they come back inside (b4 a problem time with Chloe jumping on Emma's back or trying for a WWF take-down on her front leg) Whoever sits first and isn't aggressive gets their small bite of Lean Puperoni first. As you can imagine hasn't taken them very long to figure this out...Only one small fight started but I was able to stop it b4 anything happened. Not sure why that one began - wasn't close to me... but they broke up very easily for me and settled right down. They are also much more calm around each other and me this week. Hopefully next week will be even better!

Great going T Gal. I am glad to say that things are settling in nicely on my homefront also. Keep up the good work.
