I hope to before long, Bonnie. Maybe I can even get some petting in if I bribe them a little.

You just never know - Chip loves everybody and Dale chooses his friends so I am sure you and Chip will have a good time but Dale is another story. I have three other dogs though that you probably won't meet. Watching the whole group interact is something else.

I've got magnetic dog charm. I'll bet both will come around before the day is through. Besides, knowing a Corgi's weakness (food) a piece of celery laced with peanut butter may change the tide in my favor!

Why don't you bring an apple. I am not sure if my boys could chew celery unless it was very small. Never have given that to them.

Free feeding - Colcolt is on to it.
If a dog does not eat all their meal at the one hit: toilet training and toilet schedules disrupted; under exercised? over fed? does not like all or some of the contents in their food bowl? something else is wrong that stops the dog from eating as per having a normal, healthy appetite.
Leaving the food in the bowl doesn't make the food any more appealing over time. Dogs instinctively ear their meals and if they haven't got into this habit then human management takes over as you normally bring up a child to eat their main meals at given times -so to for dogs otherwise it is as Colcolt reported and controlled eating and correct food intake is at odds. Also there is the psychological aspects - the great joy for a normal, healthy dog is mealtime. If meal time is stretched out to hours, half day, all day and becomes indistinct with one meal from another, the excitement and joy is diminished to nothingness.

I'll do that Bonnie. I'll slice up some apples and bring some baby carrots. That should get the Corgis smacking their chops!

Michael-That's what I've read and it makes sense to me but, some folks may have better luck with the free feeding. I suppose it's how your Corgi responds to either one. I'd be afraid of them gaining weight primarily and if they're young enough, cause some problems with potty training, but; I'm no long time expert. Katie was free fed by her Mom and she did alright with it as when she passed on, she only weighed about 22 pounds.

Most people agree with you Michael and freefeeding isn't for everyone. I feed my dogs twice a day a mixture of dry and canned moistened but I also always leave a bowl of dog food down and there is always food in it. Maybe that is why I can feed all of my dogs at once without any fighting over food. They know it is readily available at all times and will eat out of the dish together. It just works for me and my bunch.
