Do they insist on sleeping on YOUR side of the bed? - 10-06-2006, 09:28 AM

My two boys are incorrigible.
They know their side of the bed but they will always try to sleep on MY side of the bed, using MY pillow...etc. Sometimes I have to burrow under the duvet which they have claimed.
Is this normal corgi behaviour? A kind of bossy 'one up-dog-ship' at work?

The Boys look very comfy laying on your side of the bed LOL

Em can't jump (thank goodness!) and is toooo hairy - she sleeps under the head of our bed.

Since Chloe's hysterectomy a couple of months ago she has managed to sleep on the bottom of our bed! What started as just tonight because "the baby was feeling bad" has become a habit that we said we would never start Luck for us she isn't as hairy as Emma... yet!!!

There was a large mostly fun survey on dogs and cats and their 2000 owners done in NZ of which I produced a major article based on the results of the survey. Anyway, one of the questions asked was do you allow your dog/s or cats to sleep on your bed. I'm too lazy to go and find my article, but it was very surprising just how many responded with yes. For every one of the 25 questions I interviewed a prominent dog breeder. And the one I interviewed for this question was a Labrador breeder and she said that three of her Labs sleep with her and her husband nightly. Now where would you find the room to sleep comfortably with three big weighty dogs also sharing a bed - certainly no room for any hanky-panky.

Chip sleeps with us almost every night cuddled up against my legs. I like it because I know where he is. If my husband gets out of bed, Chip goes over and sleeps on his side. He never tries to steal my side of the bed. When I had Digger, he had his own special pillow and always slept at the head of my bed on his pillow. I would reach up and touch him several times in the night and if he wasn't there, i would wake up and go look for him. If Digger was sick, he would sleep under the bed so I always knew. Chip does the same thing. The last few weeks, we had Digger, he would sleep on the floor in one spot so I put a nightlight there for him so we wouldn't step on him in the night. So sad. I can still see him sleeping there. Anyway, enough of the gloom, Since Chip's surgery, he nows jumps up on the bed.

Actiually, when Tucker chooses to honor me and sleep on the bed w/ me, he tends to park his butt right in my face. If I roll over, he moves and parks his butt in my face on the opposite side of the bed.

Whatever! Glad those gassy days when I was feeding him Wellness are gone!

Actually, these days he is sleeping on the floor in his snuggle ball right next to Lulu's crate. Awwwwwww!

Yes, corgis can be bossy/assertive. But you have to show them YOU'RE the boss!

Rhys likes to be near me, but not next to me. Sometimes he sleeps at the head of the bed, sometimes the foot. He really likes to sleep there when I am not in it!!
