Thanks, Emilie. I won't worry too much on..I'll try not to. I'm a natural born worrier. He is smart and works hard. Just the company did something really stupid and is bankrupt. Haha. Just the hassle of interviewing, resume work, and finding another job. We both changed jobs in June and his ended way too soon.
I think Milo will be happy that he can play with daddy more now. |

Good for you for being positive Mabel. I just saw an article where losing your job can be the best thing for you. Maybe something better is just around the corner for him. We all hope so.

Mabel - what line of work is your fiancee in? Being that I live in Westchester and work in The City, maybe I'll know someone I can put him in contact with. And, by the way, I envy your positive outlook. You are a strong woman!

Depending on the circumstances, ignoring them does work - Chip used to bark and attack the vacuum cleaner every time I got it out and I just ignored him and went about vacuuming corgi fluff. Now he doesn't even pay any attention to it. Now Lady, when there is a thunder storm, she hides and trembles and pants. Very sad to see her. I think she had been shot at before we got her. One day, she will probably have a heart attack. I would not even think of playing a tape of a storm - she is 14 and it would cause way to much stress.

It is a tropical fruit tree native from southern China and Vietnam south to Indonesia and east to the Philippines. The outside is covered by a red, roughly-textured rind that is inedible but easily removed. The inside consists of a layer of sweet, translucent white flesh, rich in vitamin C, with a texture somewhat similar to that of a grape. The edible flesh consists of a highly developed aril enveloping the seed. The centre contains a single glossy brown nut-like seed, 2 cm long and 1-1.5 cm in diameter. The seed, similar to a buckeye seed, is slightly poisonous and should not be eaten. The fruit matures from July to October, about 100 days after flowering. And it's expensive too! |

Is it a matter of finding the right dogs to play with Milo? Send Milo over to play with Lulu. She will chase and play rough but one of the first things she does is rollover on her back and show submission when she meets new dogs. She almost always does this when she meets a new dog. Tucker rarely does this. About the only time I see him be submissive to other dogs is when he visits his buddies across the road - the dobermans. These dogs are all legs and Tuck loves to herd them, run between their legs, and get them chasing him. When they finally catch him, he immediately rolls over and is submissive. The dobermans act like they don't know what to make of him so they play bow and the games begin again. They really have a great temperament. And as for "they are not pack dogs like hounds and only need humans".... I guess I've never heard this. I've always read that Corgis were social animals. I didn't realize it was human contact they needed and not other dogs. Since Lulu came to live with us, Tuck gets snarky (snarl/growl/bark/ shows teeth) occasionally when he is on leash and meets another dog on leash. Off leash... no problem. He just runs and plays. I took him to the dog park while visiting a friend and he ran around with all the dogs, no problem. All new dogs he'd never met before, all shapes and sizes (including a gorgeous Nefie!). His puppy sitter takes him to the dog park all the time for play groups. Now that Lulu has all her vaccinations, she goes too.

Sweetlychee,
I am sorry that the tapes that I sent of Caesar Millan have not gotten to you yet. I went to the P.O. where I was given a form to fill out with all the info on it. I will take that back today and see what they can do. They may not be able to do more than return my postage. I was hoping that they would trace the mail. The man mentioned something about a month before there will be any results. Does everyone know that at the book stores there is books/manuels on dog training under the title "Dog Whisperer" but they are not by Caesar Millan. A bit of trivia? I'm not sure who said Corgis are not pack dogs and only need humans, but I disagree. Dogs are pack animals period. That could mean all dogs in the pack or in the modern urban dog's life a pack means a combo of dog/human/and other domesticated pets such as cats. As the alpha you are the leader of the pack and your dog(s) should fall under your postion somewhere. In my house, I'm alpha, then the cats, then the dogs. I do everything to show the dogs that the cats have a higher place so they don't get any ideas about dominating them.
In Susan's case, I would guess that Tucker sees himself being higher than Lulu and is "protecting" her on walks.

Debbie PS: Jane I did know about the other book(s) titled the Dog Whisperer and I have one of them around here somewhere. Cesar Millan is a late comer to the title and IF it weren't for his TV show and appearances on Oprah, not many people would know of him. |
