Christmas Parade -
11-15-2006, 08:57 PM
Taylor is in the annual Upper Hutt Christmas street parade for the second year. The event will be held on Sunday, December 3. And in respect of it, my wife made a really smart bow tie out of the remaining material from his dress-up cloak. So he's going to look very smart indeed because the bow tie is the finishing touch that the outfit needed. The material is just brilliant - glittering, and dark at the same time. Don't tell my wife, but the material was priced at $90 a metre. And then I had to pay a dress maker to make the cloak. Still it is a one-off thing. I got the idea for the bow tie from Go Corgi member, Barbara who dresses up her Corgi with one when they compete in dog dancing.
Now this might be going too far - and my wife promises to stay away from the parade - but I am also going to be wearing a bow tie and also a pure white cap, creamy white trousers, red socks and a T-shirt that features a large photo of Taylor on the front of it and the words 'Corgis are cool' on the back.
The parade lasts about an hour and we cover more than a mile.

Well Taylor sounds like he is going to be all decked out and the same goes for you.(will you have matching ties?) Now why is your wife promising to stay away from the parade? Actually you need her there, so she can take a nice digital picture of you and Taylor to post on here and it will help to get us into the holiday spirit. I vote that she attends the parade with camera in hand.

I should have married you Linda. My wife hates publiclty and public displays involving me, so with me and Taylor trotting down the main street in front of thousands of people looking magnificent/ridiculous is too much for her to stomach.
No, my bow tie is a commercially purchased thing. But it is colourful and is in keeping with Taylor's new addition.
There will be photographers handy - the local newspaper and the metro newspaper will take lots of snaps - and I bet Taylor is the focus of at least one shot.

Michael:
Now that you have dangled the carrot in front of our nose, you have got to post pictures of you and Taylor. I would love to see them.

Bonnie,
He tends to do that to us - I think one of us will have to fly there and capture the view on camera. Who is available?

Oh Michael,
Why I surely would not be embarrassed to be present with you and Taylor in the parade, I don't think we would make a good pair. For one, I like cats and you don't and I would then have to make the difficult choice of choosing between you two, and I am sorry, but you would lose.
As for the parade, I forgot that you are having summer there right now, so I would imagine that people will be dressed in shorts and sandals; no snow, sigh - and since KatC is the closest to you, maybe she can take some pictures.

Wow Michael - Taylor is quite the national celebrity! Such a glamorous life he leads! I would also like to see some pics of you two in the parade or (even better) some video of it posted on Taylor's dogster page?

Linda - I'll take the cats.
I'm certain there will be a photo and it will be posted on Go Corgi.
To tell you the truth, a Christmas parade in Upper Hutt is pretty damn boring and not at all colourful or original as it should be. Last Christmas I would say that tiny Taylor was one of the better 'exhibits' as a spectacle. In a few weeks time even more glamour from that quarter is promised.

You'll see that I'm very ameniable - sometimes. There are worse things than cats - lions, tigers, cougars and crocs. Linda could have said " Michael darlin', I've comin' downunder to Nu Zilan and I'm bringin' ma pet crocs with me since ah know that you're got a creek running thru your property for their convenience and pleasure. Talkin' 'bout pleasure: git rid of that there wife of yours before we arrive, won't ya honey? And make sure the crocs are duty free at the airport."

Michael is it morning there yet and if so, what did you add to your coffee?
My one cat actually thinks he is a tiger or cougar so he might not be to your liking, the other two might actually win you over.
Was this about a Christmas parade or did I stumble across the wrong thread
