Behinderhereyes ~ I don't have an email for them, they live here in town. As far as I know, the puppies are all spoken for. I think they had a waiting list for these puppies. Since I also have a cocker, I'd love to see a photo of your cocker.

The was a corgi on Dogster that had a litter of 11 the other day!!!! I can't think of where they are located. Isn't that an unusually large amount of puppies in one litter for corgis?

I am just making sure that I will be able to get a puppy, so I contacted about six or seven breeders. There is one in MN that is about 3 hours and 15 mins away. I was told to contact as many breeders as possible. Yes I am on a few waiting lists. I hope I get a corgi that is very affectionate and loves to give kisses.

I'll try to get a picture of her. When I put it on her it was a shock, I just made sure I did it quick before she could fight it. She is doing great with it.

Who told you to contact as many breeders as possible? IMO, you should talk with a few, and then pick ONE to work with. I don't think it's fair to be on a waiting list for several breeders. It's not fair to them to have you on the waiting list and then when they have a puppy find out you got one from somewhere else.

This has happened to me so many times that I no longer keep waiting lists. I tell people when I will have puppies and if they call then ok. If not I don't worry about them any more.

So, IMO, pick a breeder and work with that one only. And make sure it's a reputable breeder. One that asks you questions, one that does health testing (at least eyes and hips), one that requires you to sign a contract, one that requires pets to be altered.

Whew, thank you Peggy, I was worried after reading the other posts because I am putting all my "eggs in one basket" and on only one waiting list. Now if only the pregnancy confirmation will come through fine. So eager and excited.

If I was on more than one list, I couldn't get excited about the whole process of pregnancy, litter, pet determination, and which one could be ours. I guess I do like the torture of anticipation.

By going through the approval process ahead of time, I feel I'm also giving the breeder the comfort of knowing one of their puppies that isn't show quality is going to a great home.

Right Merrie, and if for some reason it doesn't happen (not usual but sometimes) then as a breeder I would help you find a puppy from another breeder. I think most reputable breeders would do that. Or if you wanted to wait till the next litter...

I think it's better to find someone you want to work with and stick with them. Any puppy worth having is worth waiting for.

For instance the Cardigan we have, Cassidy. I looked and talked with people for two years until we found someone we wanted to work with. Then when I met Cassidy she said they were thinking of letting her go but weren't sure yet. 4 mos. later she was ours. And well, Jim and I are both glad we waited and found someone to work with. We don't regret the wait or waiting to see if we could have Cassidy.

And I know lots of other cardigan breeders. This particular one I met at some shows and fell in love with a couple of her dogs.

I do know 3 that I really like, it all depends on which one has puppies. Sometimes litters don't take. So the breeder told me to contact some more breeders just incase.

Well since you started this thread to happily announce that one of the breeders had puppies(7 of them), you should no longer have to worry about there not being a litter for you to choose from. I would think you would be able to find a puppy out of this litter that is right for you. What do you like about this breeder or is this not one of the 3 breeders that you like?

Do you plan on going with this breeder now or are you just waiting to see the pictures that she sends you? and does she live close enough to you so that you will be able to drive to see the puppies in a few weeks?

Did you happen to get a picture of Lucy in her new coat?; with or without the coat, we would enjoy seeing a picture of her.
