Who told you to contact as many breeders as possible? IMO, you should talk with a few, and then pick ONE to work with. I don't think it's fair to be on a waiting list for several breeders. It's not fair to them to have you on the waiting list and then when they have a puppy find out you got one from somewhere else.
This has happened to me so many times that I no longer keep waiting lists. I tell people when I will have puppies and if they call then ok. If not I don't worry about them any more.
So, IMO, pick a breeder and work with that one only. And make sure it's a reputable breeder. One that asks you questions, one that does health testing (at least eyes and hips), one that requires you to sign a contract, one that requires pets to be altered.
