Behinderyes, sorry you seem to think we are a little skeptical. When we put the pressure on you about leaving your old dog outside an amazing miracle happens and you are able to housebreak her and bring her inside. And when we are trying to tell you realities about affording two dogs in an apartment then an amazing miracle happens and you find a college locally.
I wouldn't believe the stories if my kids walked in with them, why would I believe it if you did? It's not that I don't like you. I wouldn't waste the time and effort if I didn't still hope we could reach you and dissuade you from buying a corgi puppy and putting it in an uncertain future. You seem dedicated. You obviously WANT a dog badly. You try to think things over. Just listen to reason and wait. It will be better for you, Lucy, AND the dog to be. I, too, am a Christian woman. I am only telling you this because I have seen rescue. I have seen the animals suffer. I have seen my own animal suffer. Whether you come back to the board or not is up to you. But I'm not rolling my eyes, and I don't really care if I'm "popular" or not. That is such a teen thing to say!!! Puhleeze! I am a mom of a 16, 15 and 12yo. I am a cancer researcher. I am a wife. I am a daughter. I don't really have to be "popular" to be happy. PS I'm pretty "popular" in all my circles. Sit down and THINK!!! Why would all these people counsel you if we didn't CARE about YOU? I dare you to answer me on thread or privately! |

Behindher eyes:
I have held my tounge in this thread up until now, but maybe I should relate my daughter's story. She was in a similar position to you, but for different reasons, in that she was suddenly living on her own. She also had a 12 week old pup. She had to work full-time and the pup had to be left in the flat (apartment) as there was no safe place outside for her to go. The dog, who up until that time, had been a normal pup, became an anxious, needy, demanding, destructive, in-your-face dog, to the point that she almost had to give her away, despite loving her dearly. The now adult dog continues to be anxious, needy, demanding and in-you-face. The destruction has stopped, but not before she totally ruined some 2 1/2 thousand dollars plus worth of furnature, bedding, computer parts, shoes and clothing. The fact that your pup would have the company of an adult dog would not necessarily save it as dogs need a human pack leader to teach them how to live with humans. Also, there could be some bad consequenses for both animals, as dogs are not necessarily always good friends and an unsupervised puppy who persists in harrassing an older dog can end up being bitten quite badly. And that kind of outcome would leave you feeling just as guilty as hell. I don't know you, but I'd say this: you are very young - you have decades and decades of good living to come. Try to summon up your inner good sense, that little voice that is trying to be heard through the clamour of your immediate want. Try to be patient and put this descision off until you are in a situation that won't lead to a bad outcome. For both your sake and the sake of your dogs. |

And how do you know if that puppy is a fluffy? Breeders I know won't say that until the puppies are 3 to 6 weeks old. Puppies that age don't show obvious signs of being fluffes. You should have permission to share those photos. If I were the breeder I wouldn't be happy with mine being shared pubically unless I had done it myself. Peggy

Wow.... I just waded through this and holy cow! This is either some exceptional trolling or someone is posting to hear themselves post! Regardless, since everyone else is doing it.... *jumps off cliff*
What the heck, here are my 2c, just for you behinderhereyes... When I got my motorcycle endorsement, I wanted the most fun bike out there. A lot of people told me a 600cc would be a GREAT starter bike and it would be powerful enough to be "fun". My plans were to get a really REALLY cool bike off the bat just like my friends had... my friends who RACE motorcycles professionally. Afterall, they were the ones advising me. (bear with me, point is coming up, and I promise that no knowledge of motorcycles is necessary) Then a wise sage, who had been riding for YEARS and had a vast knowledge looked at me and said.... In your heart of hearts, how do you feel? Well, heck, I wanted that shiny new fast bike! I passed the test, I have the money, what's to stop me? He told me, I simply hadn't earned it. That a cheapo 250cc bike would do well for me. If I dump it, it will be at (hopefully) lower speeds, cost of repairs lower, good way to get milage and experience up. I can learn on it and get my bearings.... ... for it will be my first bike. Not my last. <THIS IS MY MAIN POINT! PAY ATTENTION HERE!!!> My point? I got the 250. How does this correlate? You have one dog as I understand it. Mistakes were made, you have a lot of life upheaval coming up, moves etc. My advice to you is this... stick with your 250cc dog. You are young, and while you may see it as a failure now not to get a dog... mayhaps everyones advice comes across as "you can't do it", but as I read it... it's not that you can't do it. No one doubts that you could do it. But I do have doubts that you would do it well. Save your $$ for after you move. IF your 250cc is going well, THEN get your corgi puppy upgrade. What does a few months difference make? Step back and look at how many animal lives you will be affecting by your decision. There will be other breeders, mayhaps even better breeders, better puppies, better $$, better more stable living conditions, more education, more wisdom... This isn't going to be your last chance for a puppy. The world is not going to come to an end if you do not get a dog now. Have patience, eat some humble pie, pray, meditate, whatever you need to do... but wait. Go to school and wait. Because, you have to earn the right to ride the Corgi 600cc. You do not want to crash and burn and not just ruin your life, your social life, your working life.... but that of your dog/potential dogs as well. There you have it! Late night ramblings from a gal in her 20's. Posting pics of the new motorcycle tonight... check the profile!
