There has been intolerance and a lack of understanding on both sides of the fence. There has also been a 'ganging up' attitude which can be prevalent on websites such as ours. There has also been name calling and veiled name calling, of one kind or another on both sides. It has got to stop. Behinderhereyes (along with many others, couldn't you think of a more simple title name to use) please refrain from using words that are inappropriate on this site and ones which tend to inflame other members. Show some respect for fellow Corgi lovers. And other members treat Behinderhereyes with some respect and set an example in which she can pick up on.

There is some good in all of us - just take a look at Blair, Howard, Clarke and Bush.

Glencorgi's effort in continuing to make Behinderhereyes feel small and humiliated on another thread earlier today, is a good example of what members should avoid doing. It reflects badly on them.

Thank you Michael for your response. Many of us have blocked behinders posts so we don't even read them any more. I agree with setting examples, however, respect has to be earned so we will wait and see.

Again, I'm a relatively new member here, so I'm not entirely familiar with the climate of this community or protocol...but may I offer two suggestions?

1) That at least one other moderator for this community be appointed. I agree that Michael's response has been inadequate, whether it's the nature of this response or its late timing. I will be nice and say, in his hopeful defense, that maybe being the sole moderator of a big forum like this is difficult and having some help in moderating might be a good thing. I can already think of at least a dozen members of this community who would gladly take on that position.

2) This may be mostly semantics, but would it be possible to create a thread of rules of conduct for this forum, which all members agree upon and which could be posted at the top as a "Sticky" thread? This way, clear guidelines can be set for rule-breaking and the moderators job can be a little more objective. This benefits everyone - community members an cite a source if they feel that the moderator of this community isn't working for them, inappropriate members can be told exactly what they did that was inappropriate, and the moderator has clear guidelines to follow for disciplining members. There are hundreds of other forums with well-written guidelines that we could use for a start.

Brava Heather!!!

Well said, we have asked for more than one moderator in the past and nothig was done. The difficult thing for Michael is that he is New Zealand in a completely different time zone than the majority of members, so it would make excellent sense to have a moderator who is available during the daylight hours in North America.

Yes, well written forum rules that are available for everyone to read and to understand would be a good thing as well. They must be more than just rules - they would need to be inforced by a moderator in a fair and uniform manner.

Agreed! I have the week off from work (one of the FEW perks of being a teacher ;o) would be glad to work with someone to help write these up if I have a willing collaborator and our moderator can promise he will help with enforcement.

I Absolutely Agree!

I agree with Heather...I think you showed a real maturity and great judgment seeing as though you are relatively new to the forum. It's great to have you here! I have agreed on the "retard" comment (myself an inclusion room teacher with a handful of students who need learning support or emotional support) and I especially agree to this.
I think rudeness on either end of a thread should be controlled. I try to use the mantra "If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all." I think that someone (you can figure out who) was looking for attention and by replying at all, it gives the desired response. I say, and I you guys and take my advice or leave it because I am just suggesting, that whenever anyone starts to really get a rise out of us(I mean smoke shooting out the ears angry), we just leave that thread thus minimizing the desired response. If hardly anyone posts, then the full effect has not been achieved. Also, I love the responses about the blocks...That's what's it's there for, let's use it! I mean it's a shame that this forum is to have open dialogue with people who go through the same things that you do on a daily basis with their corgis and we have to try and restrain ourselves. It is free speech and all, and we really shouldn't have to go through these lengths, but the truth is we apparently do, so let's make the best of it. Okay, I am probably a day late and a dollar short on this since it happened yesterday, but can't say I didn't try.

Wow I have been gone for a few weeks and yall went wild! I am glad I have learned how to block people now. Thanks Chips mom! I had no idea we could do that being a newbie too and all! I also HATE the word retarded being a high school teacher I try to stomp the use of it out in my classrooms daily.

Like you, Heather, I had great expectations for this group. Thought I was quite insightful and helpful... only to find out: Management doesn't care.

Dissappointed and disenfranchised, I don't want you to get your hopes up for nothing.

But welcome to the community! Hope you enjoy your time here more than I have.

I think it's funny to see everyone (who seems to matter, at least) feeling so frustrated. WE are the community, not the moderators or administrators or trolls. I obviously agree with Ponzo's advice...if we can't change the system, we can at least work around it and ignore or not respond to those who can't follow the rules. At least setting up some rules or trying to have more of a voice can possibly help abate things a little, though.

Hey Mrs. Grace. You'll have fun when the corgi puppy arrives and we'll have all good wishes for you. Don't give up on us. Everyone ELSE here is fun. Most are knowledgeable. Some are downright hilarious.
