You are truly dedicated to take the time to teach your dogs agility and to devote so much of your time to them. Jack will be lucky to join your gang in their endeavours, and I'm sure he will love it too!
It's very simple to upload video to Dogster - why don't you post on Sam and Wicca's pages? I'd love to see them in action!!!

At yesterdays Teacup Trial Wisley, the 11 year old Corgi, ran few times. He is jumping 4 inches in his elder years and is "such a corgi"!
What a hoot!

Glemcorgi - I wasn't talking about knowledge to know what height class to put a dog in, but what height the dog will eventually fit into. Somewhat different situation, I believe. Anyway, Amanda knows. NZ has a simple formula for dog heights and obstacle heights and lengths in agility. It will soon be expanded and maybe altered to fit in with Australia. At present we have all dogs divided into mini, midi and maxi but micro size wil come into being before long. And we have just three sets of rail heights for hurdles, three different heights for the table, and three different lengths for the long jump which take into account maxis, midis and minis. All the other obstacles are set at the maxi dog levels. So it is straightforward and somewhat along the lines of world championships. Australia I understand has their hurdles set at 300mm for mini dogs which include Corgis whilst in NZ ours are at 380mm - a considerable difference. And of course micro size dogs in Aussie have much lower hurdles to counter.
A group of NZ agility competitors will be going over to Australia next month and compete in a couple of meetings in Aussie including the Australian national champs and this will be the very first time any NZ agility dogs and handlers have competed overseas. Taylor and I could have joined the group and competed in the events but the cost is pretty high - it would have set me back around three thousand dollars. There are four handlers and several dogs in the group from the club that I belong to. They were keen for me to join in because I could write about the trip. ![]() Amanda explains: she is a he....named jack.... he will jump 10 inches as an adult. He will be under 16 inches tall I am pretty sure. He is a bit taller right now than Wicca was at his age- and she is 11.5inches at 3yrs. (16 inches is the cut off for either jumping 16 inches or running in a different division jumping 10) You are right about jumping ability. Corgis are not great natural jumpers- as far as agility goes anyway- Both mine had to be taught collection, take off points, acceleration, decceleration etc. But he will have a longer leg than Sam and Wicca so with correct training he will be a great jumper. I will have to figure out how to get some video on my website- just so you guys can see how quick they can be (corgis I mean) I have a really cool video of Wicca running a standard course- I overlapped it with a BC running the same course. Very cool. Wicca gave that dog a run for his money- I think a few seconds difference. |

Holy Cannoli, He's Cute!
That puppy is to die for! He has such a little precious face, I just want to snuggle up on those cheeks and ears...yum!
You are going to work wonders with that puppy...people don't understand how much mental stimulation goes into to keeping a healthy, socialized, happy puppy let alone a Border Collie! I am glad he's in the right hands now! Congrats!!!!

Jack is adorable...can't wait to see more pics of him. He is a mix of two of my favorite breeds.

Glencorgi -there you go being clever again. Which responses came first that you quoted in your last post on this thread?

To answer your question tho', your post was #66. My response was #68. Amanda in #70 explicitly answered all your questions. Then in #74 you came back to my post, which was pretty unnecessary had you bothered to read Amanda's post (#70). I replied in post#75 and included Amanda's post(#70) just in case you hadn't read it. Wouldn't it have been simpler just to ask her what height class she thought she might be running him in? Or what she thought he'd jump? Debbie No edit done.
