Ok not sure if this is the place for this or the show sections would be better but I supose it is a brag about Libby so here it goes.

As some of you know I have been showing by Corgi puppy. Doing Ok but it is hard to tell as there are not that many puppies showing and once we get into the winner class we do not do so well. Was not sure if it was me or Libby.

Well anyway I found out that there is an AKC judge and big time Corgie handler and many other breeds to about 2 miles from me. He was nice enough to invite me over and give me some pointers. Boy have hey helped.

Anyway I aksed him what he thought of Libby and if I was wasting my time and $$ showing her. He got a bit grin on his face and said No way she is a very very nice example of the breed. She has a great head very tippy and has a nice rear when she uses it and gave me some pointers for that and was just what they are looking for in the breed. So needless to say I am very happy with my little girl making such a nice impreasion on a man who has been showing and winning with Corgies for like 40 years or so.

That's pretty common, as a rule puppies don't often win over adult dogs.

Great you found someone knowledgeable to help you with some pointers!

If you have an outstanding pup and with all other things being equal, a puppy can race through. In New Zealand a pup cannot become a champ until he/she has attained one breed win over the age of 12 months. One of the 'equal' aspects is the handling qualities. There is a need to learn heaps about handling a Corgi to put the Corgi at his/her best advantage in the ring. Experience here means a lot. I showed my first champ terribly in some respects and would have won very much more with him if I knew then what I knew later.

I am lerning quickly to say the last. I am thinking of going to the clinic at the end of sept. Bill is putting on. Should be interesting and I will deffinitly learn a lot there I am sure. Pat the breeder of my Corgi is talking about going to. Just have to see about getting someone to pitch in here if I go. Way too many animals to be left for that long. So I may have to come home each night or just do one day.
