Puppies first show - 01-23-2008, 12:10 PM

Well my "alcohol" litter turned 6 mos old last week and hit their first weekend of shows. My keeper, Albert, was a gentleman but it didn't get him anywhere but winning his class. He's maturing a little differently then his brother, so going to let him sit out the shows for awhile and do some obedience till he matures a little more.

BUT....his brother Russ, who I placed in a wonderful home with a newbie show person, actually placed him as a pet and asked her if we could try showing him, did awesome. Figured out that it's all about ME at the shows. What a goof. Was awarded Best Puppy in Breed, then took a herding puppy group 2. side note--our blue bear puppy Eddie took the 4pt major shown by his 10 year old junior handler-he only needs 4 singles to finish his CH! :0)
The next day was even better. Russ was totally on for the entire day. He won the 6-9 puppy class, then went Winners Dog for a 4 pt major. Not bad for a just 6 mo old puppy. Then he went Best of Winners(BOW) and THEN........ he went Best of Breed(BOB) over a group placing special. His mom just about fainted outside the ring. I was crying when the judge handed us the ribbons, his mom was crying by then and everyone was just hooping and hollarin' and clapping for us. In the group that afternoon, he was barking and trying to play with the valhund and shepherd, bouncing and goofing off, so his first group was a good experience for him.

His mom has requested that we don't do every show like that, her heart can't take it. I said, no way, I hope his entire career is like that!

Congratulations Cindy! Waaaay cool!

My Bruin came home from the Brooksville, FL shows with both his majors and several reserves. IF thinks go right, the points are there for him to finish this coming weekend in SC. We'll see what the judges think. <G>

We will keep our fingers crossed for you. I have one needing 4 singles and Miracle Marg just needs 3 singles. My issue is that all I have is boys showing right now so I hate having them compete against each other-one has to loose.

The other way to look at it is, whichever one wins, you still win.

Yeah it was that way this weekend ;0) Won the points both days on two totally different boys. Though my daughter was a little disappointed in not winning on Sunday as it would have finished her dog.

As we say around here though, if we don't share, no one will want to come and play with us. Every now and then you have to loose. It's a great group of cardigan people around here, few of them are a little off center, if you know what I mean ;0) But that keeps it interesting.
