Westminister Winners - 02-11-2008, 09:26 AM

The results for corgi judging at Westminister are up:

Pembroke results:
The Westminster Kennel Club | 2008 Breed Results: Welsh Corgi (Pembroke)

For a Go Corgi connection, the breeder of the BOB winner, Lesley Chalmers, also happens to be the breeder of Michael's Taylor. This lovely black headed tri girl is owned by a very nice lady in the US and my congratulations to both her breeder and owner.

Cardigan results:
The Westminster Kennel Club | 2008 Breed Results: Welsh Corgi (Cardigan)

Group should be a lot of fun tonight.

Debbie

Wish we didn't have a snow storm brewing or I would go and watch at my mom's! Darn it. Are you going to be able to give us play by play on the groups????

I had my favorites in each breed and they didn't take breed. Oh well, hoping one of these days to make it there myself!

I can give it a shot.

Cardis were no real surprise, Autumn was Breed and George was BOS. The BHT BOB winner in Pems, was a bit of a surprise - to me at least. And to segue a bit to the thread on stud dogs, 3 of the Award of Merit winners in Pems were by the same sire.

I too would love to do the Garden at least just once for the experience. Eukanuba, well IF it were on my coast and close maybe. Crufts I would LOVE to see.

I agree that Autumn was a no brainer but I did have my favorite to win. Now, the pem to me was one I haven't really heard that much about and yes the same sire on the AOM-that shows you he stamped what the judge liked on his offspring.

Now it's time to cheer for the terriers--a very good friend of mine has her Bedlington in today. He was the BOB winner at the PA terrier shows.

I'm thinking about going dogless in a couple of years, just to see what it's like. Then decide if I want to deal with the dog there too.

I just heard that on CNBC that Westminister is airing on CNBC. Earlier today I saw the show schedule was on USA Network.

Looks like USA is airing 7-8pm (Central Time) and CNBC is airing 8-10pm (Central Time).

Anyone know if these of different portions of the actual dog show? I'm sure I'll be watching both either way.

Westminister will be on USA for the first hour it is televised (8-9 PM EDST/7-8PM Central time). At 9PM (Central time 8PM) it will then switch over to CNBC (or when wrestling comes on). Tuesday night, the entire broadcast will be on USA.

They did for BOB and BOS, there's a hyperlink in the results. Usually they have photos of the entered dogs too in the more "catalog" section.

Oh, thanks again. I saw the "Photos: breed judging" link and thought "Why would I care what the judges look like?" Duh!

At least Charlie has adolescence as an excuse to be smarter some days than others.

If a female wins best of breed, then a male wins best of opposite sex (and vise versa). They are essentially the best female and best male of the competition, but only one can be the best overall (best of breed).

Short answer, yes. There are situations and times when no Best of Opposite Sex to Best of Breed (BOS) can be given or is given.
