Bragging Again - 07-11-2006, 05:48 PM

What can I say? I'm boastful...but I sure am proud of my little guy.

Anywho, today was our last day of puppy class and for the last day we had a series of mini-contests. My little Dudley made me so proud

While we did not place in the agility contest (refused to go through the open tunnel but went through the collapse tunnel with no problem--go figure),
he placed second in staying in a down position with 12.5 seconds. Second in come with 2.5 seconds (which I see as a great feat because he has the shortest legs out of the group by far and he had to run across a very long room)

and drum roll please.....

In the sit/stay contest he placed first with a 56 second sit! I was very impressed and shocked to tell you the truth because when we had practiced before, he would only sit for 12 seconds at most.

Overall, I think this class was very beneficial. Dudley no longer puffs up at all the dogs there, doesn't bark nearly as much, doesn't jump on anyone who comes to greet him, and overall is just a better behaved dog. I can't wait to enroll him in either an agility or advanced obedience course in a few months--the trainers suggested to enroll in these at about 8 months.

Just thought I'd share my enthusiasm with you great folks

WOW, what a great boy you are Dudley!! You have every right to be very proud!

Great accomplishments, all of them, but the 56 second sit/stay. Ya Ho! That is wonderful.

Sounds like you and Dudley are going to have a very active career. Go Team. And psssst, Ob classes enhance all dog sports IMHO.

Actually we did go to Dairy Queen (more for myself, I was having an icecream craving). But, Dudley did get a little reward too...a bone through the drive thru window. He loves to go to the bank and Dairy Queen because both places will give him a bone if they see him. Service with a smile

I get Chip just a dollop (about a teaspoon to tablespoon) of ivanilla ce cream when we go to Dairy Queen but I have often wondered if it is good for him. He loves it though.

*~* Jeni,
We all WANT to hear about everyone's adventures with their Corgi !!!

RIGHT ?? !! ??

I love HEARING all of the fun things that everyone does with their Corgi.
Brag away....

Hey, I felt comfortable enough to tell you all about how my girls chewed my carpet ! Well, it was nothing to brag about....NOT AT ALL !!! But, my point is that I feel that we can talk about pretty much anything here to one another.

** Thank you for sharing with us Dudley's accomplishment ! I wanna hear all of his activities...

Nikki, you are such a sweetie!
I get so excited about Dudley's little accomplishments and not too many people outside of the corgi forums care (I think my friends get tired of hearing about him actually).
That's one of the reasons this is such a great site--we get to share our experiences, trials, and accomplishments with people who understand.

And I find comfort in knowing that if Dudley ever chews my carpet up (I certainly hope not since we rent), I will not be alone

*~* IF...IF...Dudley decides to go to town on your carpet

I have 3 guy friends that will fix it for the cheap price

of: BBQ....&...BEER !!

( I am going to put Laminent Flooring in my Master Bedroom. )

*** You are pretty sweet yourself ! Hey, I talk alot about Midnight & Sunshine to my friends as well...so I can relate to you and your experience with the response. My EX Sister~In~Law recently got a Cocker Spaniel Puppy....so she brags all the time about him (Charlie Brown) !! When I try to talk about Midnight & Sunshine....she INTERRUPTS me and talk over me....then, I feel like ***poop*** ! I can SOOOOOOOOOOO relate to how you feel ! Gotcha'...on that issue !

I am here to listen...and talk WITH you on any topic...girl !!

Congrats to Dudley and Jeni! Ace is very impressed with Dudley's accomplishments. It's nice to be able to brag about good things our corgi's do. Sometimes the bad things get metioned but we all relate!
