Chip completed basic obedience class - 08-31-2006, 07:03 PM

Chip completed his basic obedience class tonight and received his certificate. He got first place in come when called the fastest - I was so proud. The instructor said she didn't know that such short little legs could run so fast. Now if he would do that at home in his own backyard. Anyway, he starts advanced on Monday night. There will be some agility but the instructor said that we would work around any jumps, etc that I didn't feel comfortable with. We had a little agility tonight and she put the jump way down to the bottom for Chip and I lifted him up and down from the table. Anyway, we had great fun.

Way to go, Chip!!

And a first place in "come", too. That's great!

Trevor has also finished his basic obedience and will start advanced in a couple of weeks. He, however, seems to be selectively "deaf" to the
"come" command

Chip is up and at 'em. Good for him, good for you.

Coming first in recall - must be a Corgi trait. Taylor won this event at a big fair earlier this year. I went the furtherest I could in the roped off arena. And yelled out to Taylor to come. Taylor had focussed his eyes on me all the way, so on the command, he sprinted right up to me from over 50 metres, and I told him to sit which he immediately did. There was no doubting his recall ability on that day. Usually when I call to him to come, he thinks about it for awhile or doesn't think about it at all.

good for Taylor! Michael you must post more pictures of your Taylor. I agree about the corgi trait. Chip will look until he finds me then he focuses on me and doesn't see anything else. In my opinion - corgis are the best.

Bonnie,

Congratulations on Chips success. There is nothing cuter than a Corgi running at full speed.

Cody did that also on the last day of his puppy class - we practiced the recall from a far distance and he shot down that field like a bullet.Everyone was laughing because his ears were flopping and he looked like he was ready to "take of" - he beat all the big dogs in the area of "speed"

*****YAY CHIP!!!!!!!*******
That's great Bonnie - I can tell you are bursting with pride! People are always amazed at how fast Jackie can run on those short little legs . . . and that ear flop is adorable! Good luck in advanced and (most importantly) HAVE FUN!
