Jane might be particularly iinterested in this. A couple of weeks before the WWCWC's next Corgi walk, the club is having its first ever dinner function. We are going to a well appointed Indian restaurant where we will have a special banquet meal for only $25 per person (and no tipping which is not customary in New Zealand) - a large variety of dishes and complementary food items - and we can bring along our own wine. So far 15 of the members are coming which is jist a fraction under 50 percent of our human membership. So the turnout will be better than I had anticipated.

Micheal, you have a very social club. It is nice that you can get together for these affairs. And I envy the course of walking. The group that is local here haven't had another play date because we are an eclectic crew. It is summer now, with all the distractions that go with it, vacations and holidays. Beaches are generally off limits in the warmer months.
This is your thread, maybe though I could ask if any area residents want another playdate, name the time and location please, using a new thread. |

This is worth mentioning here : the WWCWC has got funds available to help with Corgi (pure bred only) rescue and I have now established cointact with SPCA and animal rescue organisations and Council dog control centres in the Wellington region. So I am geared up for assisting. Thank goodness pure bred Corgis are not a common breed of dog needing to be rehomed etc but one never knows when the occasion will arise. Debbie of Glencorgi thinks that Corgis are not as abundant in New Zealand as they are in the USA but probably on a human population basis, there could be more Corgis in New Zealand per capita than there are in the USA.

Congratulations on your funding and I hope you have very little need for it. What I mean by that is; I sincerely hope that all the Kiwi corgis are in good homes and can spend the rest of their days in them. Debbie Last edited by glencorgi; 07-12-2007 at 10:18 PM. |

Thanks Debbie. I already found a new home for a lovely 2 year old fluffy Pem named Holly and when I phoned one of the SPCAs re the rescue thing, they told me that Holly was on their 'books' and were very pleased when I told them Holly had already been rehomed and is being very well taken care of.
In two surveys of the total and individual pipulation of dogs in NZ, I estimated that there were some 7000 Corgi and Corgi cross in NZ with around 70-80 percent of them pure bred. Now on a comparative basis with the USA, there would need to be something like 550,000 Corgi and Corgi crosses in the USA. |
