Corgis are still not one of the popular breeds in the US but they are growing. According to the AKC, they are ranked #24 overall. I have hopes that the corgi's popularity will continue to grow.

Some people here act like they know everything about me and quick to judge. It's like some people are holding up fire sticks, spikes, and swords menacing at me. Usually I don't divulge personal issues but who I pick and what trainer I pick is our choice for our corgis. We can take as long as we like.

First of all, no one can judge others. You are not God.

You also deviated from the point of this post which is about DOG FOOD and not training. Why do I have to answer to you as if you're my boss? You don't even know if we got Milo a trainer or not. You take all my previous posts and come to bash/judge me. It's a waste of time. I'm not daunted.

I never even said that glencorgi's advice was useless. I appreciate everyone's advice.

I'm not a scapegoat or a black sheep. Some people need to lighten up.
If I don't agree with certain people or the consensus, I'm singled out. I guess I don't have as many lackeys as certain people. This is definitely the road less taken.

I'd go to 1/3 cup twice a day and see how she does. You could even go to 1/2 cup in the AM and a 1/4 cup at night = 3/4 cup a day before cutting back to 2/3 cup a day. That's a mistake often made when someone switches to a "diet" food - they feed the same amount and wonder why they're dog hasn't lost weight. IF the food is working for them, then just cut back.

Sadly yes they are still growing it seems in popularity, but just because a particular vet doesn't see many corgis in their practice, doesn't mean there aren't others in the area. I can name quite a few in NY state. Call me a heretic if you will, but I wish their popularity would start to wane. It would give me a lot more time for my own dogs. Seriously, Mabel you have no idea what you are wishing for.

I am so thankful that my vet is familiar with corgi's. He has three of them himself.

I love my vet, but they don't know much, if anything, about Corgis. They once wanted to do all sorts of testing and bloodwork, start medication, etc, etc. etc.... because her ears were raw, even blue areas. I had to argue to get them to listen to me, but I was right. It was only Miss Gambler slapping her big Dumbo ears together and she actually caused trauma to her ears, official diagnosis, with a little cream and correcting her when she snaps her ears and problem was solved.

Debbie,

I'll start the 1/3 cup twice a day tomorrow. I think Emma is like me and would rather have two medium size meals than one large and one small. And if her meal was a lot smaller and she finished up first Em would probably push Chloe out of the way and eat her's too! I can see WW3 starting over that!

Wow, people are being more confrontational and irate on this forum.

I asked which brand to switch - and people have given me some brands they feed their corgis. Milo is not 1 year old yet but he's reaching that age. So, I'm gathering the information. Is it a sin to be a caring and informed owner?

No, it's not.

And look, if you read books, they will tell you some weight range so you can gauge and compare. How wrong is that?

I'm a new corgi owner but it doesn't mean I'm not an educated and caring corgi owner as the other owners. I do as much homework as I can. I don't need any praise for my effort but even new and old corgi owners can come here to learn something. Isn't the whole point on being here to be open minded and humble?

If people have a problem with my thread, then do not respond. If you want to be confrontational, then please don't give me your attitude. My energy and time are not spent trying to defend my posts. They are here to help my corgi. If you are not helpful, don't bother typing.

Sweetlychee: You are on here enough to know that we are not a confrontational group of people. We love our corgis and ask questions and take the advice that is offered. Since confrontation seems to be on posts that you have started and directed at you and your comments - have you ever HUMBLY thought maybe you are the PROBLEM! Debbie has many many years of experience as well as others on this board and we need to RESPECT her advice. I would trust her judgment in all areas of my Chip as well as others on this board would and you need to humbly learn that. Also, PLEASE quit swearing on this Board - it is not necessary and the only effect it has is make one wonder on your intelligence and GUESS WHAT - I was born and raised in NEW YORK.

Here are a few websites that I found very helpful in learning about different dog foods. They arent all created equal.

Egan has been on all life stages foods since I brought him home.

Good luck in your search.

I have a two cats that see one vet 5 minutes away, one special needs cat that goes to a vet 30 minutes away and now Dillon dog who gets to go an hour with me ( thank GOD he loves going for a ride, and absolutely LOVED this corgi vet...) The things we do for love of our pets...

Emilie

I live in a very small town (Eunice) in the southeast corner of NM and we don't have a vet in our town. My vet is 36 miles away in Texas, but once a week he drives to Eunice to tend to his "patients" here. All of the people who work for him are wonderful. I had to put my 17-year old (would have been 18 this past September) calico cat, Kalli, to sleep on a Thursday in July. That Sunday we had to take our 14-year old (would have been 15 this past September) to the vet, and he died during the night there. The people there sent us a sympathy card. Just very, very nice people!
