Ever since we got Ruby at 4.5 mos of age, we have feed her in the morning and at supper time-2 meals at day and we remove the empty bowl when she is done (about 2-3 min. later) and she has always finished her meal. We always succumb to her begging for food when we eat, plus she gets an occasional biscuit. That is it.

Well I tried a granny smith apple with Ace yesterday. He ate it all up! I really don't think he cared that it was a different type than he usually gets. An apple is an apple to him I guess! We have looked in our stores for the honeycrisps but no luck. We will be traveling through Tennessee at Christmas time, is there any chance we might be able to find some at that time? Or will it be too late in the season?

Emilie - I am in a state of changing equations around a bit with Taylor's daily meal through the not yet fully completed article I wrote about the best food for your dog.
Up til recently, as an adult, Taylor has been getting about one third imported premium dry food(kibble) and the remainder shared between fresh meat (cooked unless it is beef steak), cooked brown rice and a top NZ brand of processed chicken roll. Then occasionally I might add raw vegies he likes or boiled carrot. In place of rice he might get the occasional pasta.
His daily biscuit is a large Eukanuba - which I find is better than the other top international biscuits brought out by Hills. But both are very good for a Corgi's dental care. Taylor loves his daily biscuit and he lets me know when it is exactly 12 noon.
Re fresh meat, Taylor loves the cooked hearts (lamb, ox, cattle and chicken) and often makes loud lip smacking noises after he has completed a meal containing hearts.

Sounds like a good overall diet for Taylor. He eats like a king! Micahel, I wonder how hard it is to "measure" when you are feeding him combination of cooked foods and kibble. How do you do it? I can barely get the equation right at home here with Dillon and i am feeding 2/3 Wellness lamb dry 1/3 of another brand of different protein source premium dry (rotating ) and then added a bit of canned wellness lamb, pumpkin and plain lowfat organic yogurt, I use measuring cups etc and am trying to keep it consistant and weigh him often to keep him at his ideal weight which at this point for him is about 30-31. We are trying to keep that balance and he often will go down to 28, then we add more food then he is up to 30.8 now and I am slightly cutting back again to see if we can keep it at that, but this has been an on going thing. Oh and what is a processed chicken roll? just curious.
