Just curious - Do you think it is better to moisten puppy food or feed it dry.

I have fed Dillon Dry food mixed with a little canned food, some organic lowfat yogurt (and later added some pumpkin ) since the day i brought him home. I personally think they enjoy the added moisture in their food.

Well that is what I am going to continue to do with Dale is moisten his dogfood. I still moisten Chip's and add a dollop of canned but I am not going to start that with this pup. I'll start the yogurt too. Deb - is it plain yogurt and how much should I give him. He has one ear up and one down. He eats alot better then Chip ever did so how much and how often?

I add some warm water to my dogs kibble, all of them, adults too. I've learned over the years that dogs will eat better if their food has a varitey of textures. Some dry food and some wet. You can get the wet food by adding a little water. Not enough to make it soggy, but moist. So, I fill the bowls and add a bit of water, the food in the bottom gets a bit moist and the food on top stays a bit crunchy. Also, a bit of warm water helps to bring out the smell. Not that most corgis need encouragement to eat, but well, seems to help. Also, water will help to disolve or mix in any supplements I add (such as vitamins c and e). Peggy |

Bonnie, I buy stoneyfield's Organic Low fat PLAIN yogurt and Dillon loves it. He has been on that same kind since the day i brought him home and he loves his yogurt. I tried both fat free and whole fat varieties, both didn't agree with his tummy. The whole fat was just too rich and the fat free still gave him loose stools not sure why..so i saty with the one that works for Dillon. I am not sure what the feeding amounts are for a puppy, that is something to ask your breeder, she should be able to tell you what she was feeding the puppies and how much and you want to keep feeding the same thing and slowwwwwwly change over to something else if you want him on a different food..she should be able to discuss amounts - I know a lot of people fed three or four meals a day i never did but i was told by my breeder two meals a day and I also got Dillon at 10 1/2 wks old so he was a bit older.

Some vitamin stores will have dry Vit. E and that will work too. And yes, you can give it to puppies too. I use pretty much the same dose. Peggy |

Well Dale seems to like his puppy food dry better then wet. That is how his breeder was feeding him. He also really likes the eukanuba puppy food and the ProPlan Select adult dog food that he steals.
I have another thief in the house. Now Chip has decided he really likes the ProPlan Select and he is eating it dry too. Maybe Dale will teach Chip a few things. Chip also likes the puppy food so I am going to have to watch that close. I don't want Chip to gain any more weight. The vet said he is perfect at 24 lbs.
