I have never heard that about Pork - Cody does fine with the ears - they are
hard like a rawhide and soften up as he chews on them - they don't gum up
in his mouth like regular rawhides do. - I have never heard of them causing
pancreatitis, but I will ask my vet if that could happen.

I don't think it is the pig's ears that gives the problems. I think it is like pork chops and ham - that sort of stuff.

Like chicken and any meat from wild animals, all fresh pork and pork products must be well cooked first otherwise there is the danger of salmonella etc for dogs (as well as for humans). So Pig's Ears and trots and snouts commercially packaged and purchased from vets, pet shops and supermarkets for dogs are all pre cooked and are excellent treats for Corgis.

Pork is high in potassium so it it excellent meat for the well being of a dog's heart.
Best to keep dog's clear of pork fat. A little is OK but pork fat can promote pancreatitis in dogs.

So in response to Chip's Mom - it is excessive feeding of PORK FAT to dogs that can cause pancreas problems NOT pork meat..

Michael: Thanks for clarifying - I am not an expert just a little eccentric with my dog.

Hi Darci,

I tried the Bully sticks with Cody and he had no interest in them, only pigs ears.

Linda,

LOL
I wish Darci would be picky about food or chew treats... no just kidding.
she loves everything.....
Darci loves the pigs ears too.The bully sticks seems to last longer for her, but are stinky...

Darci,

Yes, Cody is kind of picky with his "treats" I buy him, but not people food - with people food, he loves everything - My 3 cats also love people food and
will eat just about anything I offer them

Cody just seems to like the pig ears and also "dingo brand" rawhide - other
than that, he doesn't care for much of anything else.

Thanx!
well, my chloebelle likes the raw hide bones that are a half a foot yes greenies are very bad for your pups but i think the half foot raw hide bones are the best for chloe her birthday is december 25 05 yes it's christmas and this dog has teeth of steel and will chew on a rock all the way to a person we go throw 6 packages of 4 pack raw hide bones a month if yur dog doesn't like those or you have a consern about them or your not shoor
wich is perfectly ok to be protective i give chloe a chew toy that's some what flat and thick and swipe peanutt butter all over peanutt butter is perfectly fine with dogs the dog trainer at chloes puppy class said her dogs eat it all the time and they love it i hope i hlped a little thanks

Chloe-Belle - don't take all peanut butter brands for granted. Some may contain other than pure peanut ie additives to create flavors and sweetness that would probably not be recommended for dogs.
