LOL....oh sorry, now IM the saddist LOL...I have been there and done that a FEW times with Spoilt and Rotten. They are crated during the day while we are at work and yes, I can totally relate to the gawd awful smell that hits you right square upside the noggin as soon as you open that door! I have found that one too many people food treats will undoubtedly do that. We are both awful about spoiling our dogs rotten (hehe) and giving them scrap treats, however we have definetly learned our lesson there. A treat is NOT several handfuls!! One or two bites will suffice! Also, I have found that giving them yogurt helps to regulate them a little quicker. They love it too so that helps. I had read somewhere it has natural elements that help kill the uncomfortable bacteria in thier little systems. Anyhoo....it helped. Happy belated birthday! (Spoilt just turned one on the 12th....when exactly was Egans bday?)

After reading all these horror stories and just finding out about anal glands, I don't know if I want another dog or not! I've got a pretty strong stomach but, poor Darci...

I'm so sorry for the upset tummies you poor little guys had. But good tip! No marrow bones! Although I swear my two have cast iron tummies!

I came home from work one day early winter and found my two had eaten something that upset both of them. Vomit, poo, and pee. They have not had accidents in the house in very long time.

Of course, they were no worse for the wear!!!! Thank God my dining room floor shere they are gated is tile!

Oh my heart goes out to you. My husband has the gag reflex, but I don't. I would have had to x-pen the dog, clean the house, then the dog, then probably the x-pen.

Knuckle bone - only once and I could see the bone chips in her poop, I was lucky compared to everyone it appears.

I didn't know they give lomotil to dogs, knowing it is so strong for humans. I gave 1/2 a pepto bismal to my dog when I was sure the plant toxin was out that she ate, but stool still was a little loose. But you have to remember because their poop is black after that dose. Just like beets, makes their poop look like blood in it.

Thank goodness for yogurt and the beneficial bacteria.

Merrie

Thanks for all the well wishes.

Egan is much better, poop is back to normal.

Darci however is taking a little longer to get on track, but on the good side we only had 1 bath today.....

Immodium (lomotil) is safe for dogs and works much faster than pepto bismol. I never travel without Immodium, since diarrhea in a dog on a trip is baaad news!

If you're concerned about the amount start with a half tablet, give the other half if needed. I wouldn't give more than that unless your vet advises.

That reminds me of my first puppy, when I woke up to a pile of poop that was up to my knees. Good times, good times.

Oh, poor babies! My dog walker let Jackie chew on a marrow bone a couple of months ago . . . with identical results to yours. I also have the gag, but I am the first one home, so what's a girl to do? My walker felt so bad, but I told her . . . it's ok, but now we know - no more of those!

Jackie has a sensitive tummy too, and immodium is a life saver. I give her a half tab (as Peggy suggests), and she feels much better! She has her own box in the kitchen . . . just in case!!! (and I also keep the pants trimmed down for easy cleaning!)

Lots of kisses and hugs to the puppers - hope Darci makes a full recovery soon!

I'll have to get some immodium for Zip and Zia. I've never heard of using it. Just the regular immodium tablets?

Oh yes! Have pumpkin in your cabinet for the dogs. I don't know how it works, seeing how it's fiber, but it does. I gave some to Duncan not too long ago for the runs. I gave him a bully stick, not knowing my husband had given him one earlier in the day and one the night before. So, now that rule is, I give them (his sister, Chloe) the bully sticks. I try to limited them to about two a week.

I wouldn't ban the bones altogether. It's not the bone itself that's the problem it's the marrow. If you have a dog that eats all the morrow in one sitting, just dig most of the morrow out of the bone before giving it to the dog. Or use knuckle bones (the knee joints), the morrow is not so accessable in them.

Raw bones help to keep teeth clean. Remember raw though, cooked ones can splinter.
