Dog Food -
03-08-2008, 07:53 PM
I know there has been tons of discussions on dog food on this site, but most of them are filled with arguments. I thought it would be interesting to get a thread started where everyone lists what food they like to feed for puppies and adults, and the ingredients in the food of their choice. I know some people prefer all life stages foods, so they would only have to list one. So, just list the type of food and the ingredients with no explaination. Oh, and if you prefer to feed "Puppy" food for puppies and "Adult" food for adults, please state the approximate age that you like to switch to adult food. Thanks guys, I just thought it would be interesting to hear everyone's choices.

I prefer to feed Canidae ALS to all my dogs, but will try out new foods if that doesn't work for one.

I feed Duncan Lassies All Natural Way food. I switched him to that when I noticed that he would dig and scratch and no fleas were available. It doesn't contain wheat or corn meal, which was a blessing when the big scare came about last year. Plus, I don't have to pump him full of Benedryl to make him comfortable.
Oh, and good luck on not having any arguments about dog food.....if so, that would be a first.

I feed mine Fromms All Life Stages from their Four Star Line. He's been on this for about 1 1/2 years now and has worked great; no gas, good stools.
I rotate between the ones offered in their Four Star Line.
With his evening meal, I also add in a small bit of canned food. Either Fromms, Merrick, or Wellness

I feed Canidae ALS to my dogs with a small amount of Eagle Pack canned. Taffy would never eat the puppy food but Dale really enjoyed it. He also gained a lb or two which he didn't need.

Canidae ALS here too. I switched Charlie from puppy food between 6-7 months of age.

When Duncan was little, my vet suggested Large Breed puppy formula for him to eat. He had that until he was about 9 months old. The vet said this would be a good food for his joints cause he was limping one time and I thought he had a torn ACL when he was about 4 months old. Sorry, I can't remember the brand I gave him, but Pedigree seems to ring a bell.

Canidae ALS here, also. Westin was on Royal Canine until about 8 or 9 weeks, and has been on Canidae since.
--we did try to switch to Wellness (the purple one... don't remember which kind it was though) but had some pretty bad allergies with that, so we're back to stage one!

I use Diamond's Premium Edge Chicken & Rice packaged as Costco's Kirkland store brand.

Innova primarily, rotating with Canidae ALS. I add some EVO canned several times a week and the Missing Link in the evening meal.
