Thank you Debbie, you're right. I have one I use that does that and she's the one who recommended the Innova my dogs eat.

And she is one who did the studying on nutrition beyond vet college.

Peggy - you have put your finger on the apparant problem in the USA - your vets need to be nutrution savvy especially with dogs and cats - almost as much as they are in other aspects of veterinary care. Good nutrition practices for pets forms a big part of veterinary care here in NZ and Australia.
We have specialists in the field of small animal nitrition associated with Massey University and I am sure they would be prepared to impart their knowledge. Also at Massey is the top veterinary school in the Southern Hemisphere.

Now I do agree with you there. I do think and wish vets here had more training in nutrition and not from the dog food companies. And yes, they should have more as nutrition is a big part of health care.

Send them over. (Like the colleges here would listen. <sigh>)

You know, I suspect that the dog food companies donate to the vet colleges for the privilege of being the ones to provide the classes on nutrition here in the US.

The almighty $ has way too much power sometimes and colleges who are always strapped for money would be glad to do this in excange for donations.
