It is very difficult not succumbing to making your Corgi happy by giving him/her treats and tit bits along with a full bowl of food. Corgis just love tasty food offered to them.

But the medical answer is different.

Fat/overweight Corgis are in line for a shorter life span. They have the increased risk of developing cardiovascular disease, respitory disease, liver disease, diabetes, cancers, orthopedic problems and neurological problems.

Trade up healthy treats and make the Corgi work for them with small treats throughout the play activity. Alternatively, forget about treats and increase the play time/exercising - that's the best treat of all!

I agree! Too many people are "killing their dog with kindness" thinking all the "junk food" treats make the dog happy. Happy yes, healthy no. And certainly the dog will be just as happy with a good diet, exercise and affection.

I control my diet and I control Charlie's diet. One of us eats healthily. LOL
