Yes, if you read the information on the test, you do get three attempts at each item, if you need them. BUT you must pass all 10 items or you fail the entire test.
Let's see-jumping etc. What we always teach our guys is a command to put their feet up on something. I usually use a small sturdy box -tap it with a good treat in my hand and say feet. When the dog places his or her feet on the object they get the reward. Once it's reliable then the item gets taller and more unsturdy. It's the same thing I use to teach my dogs to put their feet up on the side of the tub for baths, on the grooming table or to get in the truck. They place their front feet up on the end of the burb, I lift their butts in. My collies are no different and do not jump unless like my rough I ask her "up" then she puts her front feet on my chest so I can give her a hug. She also had her TDI at one time(let it lapse) and knew "feet" or "up" or "bed" or what ever. As long as you are consistent with your commands. I think the best thing to do in any thing you want to teach is give it a name, ask for the behavior and be prepared to reward when it happens. If they do it wrong, ignore, do something different, go back and try again. Cindy and the crew |

Priceless indeed. As much as I don't like other people's dogs jumping up on me, I permit Rosie to greet me this way. She does know that this is NOT the way to greet others, however, and seems to be able to remember the rules.

Taylor has some favourite non-family people (including kids), and he often gives them his special greeting which is on the tips of his back leg toes and reaching up for a cuddle - unless I tell hum not to.

Whew, butterflies about tomorrow. I hope we pass. One last training session at the local pet store (I think I can talk some clerks to help me "rehearse") a long walk and then we're off to dog school to see how we do.
