Moe is 6, and was house broken before. I never have had a mess in the house from him before (well once, but that’s because I had to work late).

Lately, with in the last week or so he has pooped on the carpet every day. I am home recovering form surgery, so I let him out at lunchtime, as well as in the morning and then he is out at the barn all evening.

If he would just ask I would let him out, but he hides in the closet all day.

Any suggestions? I would take him for walks, but I can't really do that at the moment.

Sounds as though he is under stress of some kind, if this is a sudden development and he is hiding.

First thing I'd do would be to see what has changed for him recently that might be causing him to feel fearful and see if that factor can be revoved.

I'd also clean the carpet area that he has pooped on with something that will remove the smell, e.g diluted white vinegar, as he will naturally gravitate back to this area again, if he can still smell his previous poop.

Others are sure to have suggestions, too.

Good advice Clogs. In another thread, I gave details of an American made product that removes urine (and poop?) stains and makes the area kind of repeat-proof ie removes the odour which might propel a Corgi to poop again in the area or mark the area again.
The stress thing must be the major cause. A Corgi that hides away in a dark place well into their adulthood and then loses his/her toilet training skills, is under some kind of enormous pressure.
I'd start changing Corgi relationship management quickly.

Maybe it's your surgery which has him stressed. I'm sure he knows you are not your normal self and I would think it would worry him. Is he in the room with you? I have used vinegar and it does work

I can't really think of what is stressing him...but he did it again today. I was watching him most of the day, but fell asleep for a few hours, and I guess he did it then.

He always has stayed in the closet...I don't know why.

I think he is making me stressed now

Change your management of him - set up a daily timetable. Are you making life interesting for him with regular surprises. Usually twice a week Taylor gets to go on a rarely visited or new walking/trotting/cantering/running trip. I try and get him to socialise every day with dogs/people/kids. We have lost of theatre activities - I play the role of a monster coming to kill him - and Taylor will look for the nearest 'weapon' to hinder my advances. We do agility whuch he loves and finds sooo exciting - and tracking for his food.

Get him out of the closet and fouling inside the house.
