Oh, I forgot. Taylor loves to dance. He gets up on his backlegs, grabs hold of me with his front legs, and we waltz around the floor. Now you couldn't do this too easily if the Corgi is weighty.
Nikki - onc a month baths are abosolutely plenty. Even less often if you can put up with hairs in the house, you groom your Cogis often - such as daily or every second day (this helps the coat maintain cleanliness apart from ridding the Corgi of loose hairs) and your Corgis are inside dogs who don't get into a lot of dirt and mud - and if they do, you kind of spot clean them or towel them down. If your spend a little more money and get Frontline-Plus, bathing or swimming is no problem at any time. |

I have a hard time teaching Milo to shake his hands also. I tried the method before but I gave up and just fed him the treat because he's just basically staring at the biscuit instead of concentrating and giving me his hand. I thought I was the only one having trouble with this. I don't think because they are short they would have a problem. Milo sometimes stand up with two paws on our knee or one paw on our knee and the other paw dangling. Hahaha. He is just waiting for food. I will try to teach him again and be consistent.

I taught Ace to shake when he was about 4 months old. He picked it up very quickly because it involved cheese (which he LOVES!) From there we taught to give "high five". Technically it is a "low five" due to short (but mighty) legs. Then my hubby taught him "high ten". Which is when Ace gets up on his back legs and high fives both hands at the same time. He really catches on fast when it comes to fun tricks. But when it comes to heeling....that's another story. Ace just wants to be in the lead. We have tried different collars and leashes but he still pulls when walking. Any suggestions???

Jim and Bethany,
Cody does the pulling once in awhile and his current trainer said that when he does this, I am supposed to stop, take two steps backward and guide him gently while on his leash ,back at my side to start again - it's work! My neighbor bought some type of harness for her dog recently and she said it make a huge difference. |

We bought a gentle leader (it goes over his mouth). Is that what you mean by harness or do you mean one that goes around his chest? We tried the gentle leader once but I didn't like it and neither did Ace. We really need to find a good trainer down here!
