Byron never goes off leash in the yard without his collar.

We also live off of a busy road so going without his collar is way to risky

An interesting observation....

The snow has melted off the ground after 3 Months - So we are now able to play ball again.

If the ball goes beyond the boundary, he stops.

Keep in mind - he hasn't been in those areas of the yard in months.

OK.... I'll admit it, I sometimes send the dogs out in the yard w/o their collars on. And they respect the boundary.

Everytime someone brings up the "digging" thread, I am more convinced the electric fence was the best decision for me.

One of my two would have dug under a fence and the other would have chewed it to bits (I would have done PVC fencing).

I will say my best friend put in an electric fence and DID NOT follow the training instructions and early on when there were problems, she never called back the Fence Company for help.

her dog thinks nothing of going thru the fence.

Tucker would rather give up food than get near the flags. THAT should tell you how seriously he takes it!
