If posts from another Corgi site are also on here, word for word, would that mean that someone is lifting these posts and placing them here to increase threads and posts? And are the members here ever tested by faked new threads?

I probably don't understand. But if a thread is here and also in another site, so what - as long as it is relevant and the person entering the thread here has joined Go Corgi I don't see a problem with a repeat thread elsewhere.
As I have inferred previously, nothing on this site apart from images in the gallery and the name of the site and a few other bits and pieces, are unable to be lifted and used elsewhere. And vice versa. That's why I don't post my articles and stories.

I don't know how these forums work but I do know that I googled overbite and my thread about Chip popped up on the internet. Didn't know that should happen either.

Yes, that's the way the internet works.

I am extremely familiar with how the internet works, and yes, whatever we type on this site is out there for all to see if they google the topics, but that's not what I meant. When the posts are the same on different sites, but the posters are different, then something is up. The membership number continues to climb, yet the majority NEVER EVER post, and you don't have to join to enjoy this site. It would appear that the "regular" members here are being taken for fools, answering faked threads, all in the interest of pumping up this site for the benefit of the owner, ie: selling ads. The "regulars" do not appreciate this, the "regulars" are not stupid, and the owner better realize that the success of this site depends on the "regulars". Also, while I'm at it, I know that several times it was pointed out that I was the one who requested a mission statement, and I still believe that it can be an important part of a site, it just would have been nice if we had one that is grammatically correct.

I am a member of another dog forum as well, and there has been ocassion such as my timberwolf thread that was being discussed on there and I started albeight slightly different but I did start a very similiar one here.

If I happen to be on another site and see something that I want to share here with gocorgi members I see nothing wrong with that at all.

Maybe I am missing something or maybe you were referring to something else altogether.

I'm a little confused as to what you mean too MGM. Do you mean that a post such as what I'm writing now is identical- so literally word for word on another site? I can see that subjects would be the same, I'm on another Corgi forum and I see the same subjects, and I recognize some of the members here who use different nicknames.

MGM,

I have re-read your second post this afternoon and after much diet mt. dew.

Are you saying that maybe someone is stealing someone else's post and posting them here as their own ???

Forgive me if I have misunderstood your post, I hav been accused of being a sluggish thinker at times.

Start thinking "regulars", some of the people who are posting don't even exist, other than in the mind of the person writing. There are financial reasons that this is happening, and it is an insult to the "regulars", there could also be other reasons, so watch your back, as well as your computer for any spyware and/or virus attachments.

What? I guess I don't understand. I am also very famililiar with websites and the way that they work, and I honeslt don't fully grasped what I am saying but if somebody wants to take my posts and post them on another site I do not really see how that hurts me in anyway.

Many lists have disclaimers that anything posted there is copyrighted to the list and the original writer. That why it is very important to get permission before crossposting from list to list. Websites also can be copyrighted and any information or photos on them belong to the site owner. To lift them and use them somewhere else can bring down legal ramifications. So that is one aspect of it.

Adkmehrman, let's run this scenario by you. Say, hypothetically of course, someone on the forum has a dislike for you and so they take your posts and copy them over to another list/forum where everyone makes fun of what you've written?

What I think MGM has discovered is that there are individuals (or an individual) who are making up identities and profiles in order to join Go Corgi. They are taking posts from other forums/lists and posting them here as their own words. The motivation? In some cases it may be nothing more than attention getting. There may be a financial motive - the more members the more posts there are, the better advertising rates or other benefits? I don't know about that, but from what MGM says that might be an explanation.

I guess the bottom line is it is a matter of honesty, ethics, standards and integrity.

Debbie
