Honestly, I'd stop complaining and appreciate this board for what it is, a place to come to when we have worries (or praise) for our cherished pets. Who better to come to with a corgi problem than people with other corgis. I think it's a great web site and I thank Michael and whomever else are the Powers that Be that initiated this website. It's very well done and has true warmth by its participants. Well done everyone! No complaints here. ~Shelly

Cindy,

We are just sort of wondering who Stephen is and maybe he could tell us
something about himself and why he decided to start this great site. We thought that maybe he could post some pictures of his Corgi.

He just seems sort of a mystery

Was wondering who was complaining ????? I missed it.

Linda,
I too would love to know more about our board founder, I really enjoy this site as we all clearly do, and enjoy learning and sharing our corgi stories.

Wonder were his love of corgi's began.

Maybe he's really Charlie ??????????

LOL

I started off this thread in early November,2005 when there were very few members of Go Corgi and it just wasn't taking off. Then we had someone who wanted Go Corgi to disappear - and I thought at that time that it might.
But of course one can sit back now and see just how well it is going comparatively to the earliest days of its existence thanks to a spurt of some very good marketing by the owners.

In light of this, this thread is not really the right one to continue this discussion under.

However, there are two things that I have pushed for only recently and they will happen.
1 There are a lot of members who do not participate "verbally" though some of them may very well be "silent" members ie they look over the site.
That's quite ok. I have asked Stephen - and he has agreed - to start up a personal email system direct to apparently non-active members, reminding them of the large current membership we now have and the very active website that Go Corgi is, and invite these members to participate physically more frequently.

It is worth noting that all other selective discussion websites on the internet are caught in the same trap: joining and becoming members - especially if it is a free service - is not a guarantee to active participation from any of the membership and only a proportion of members can be termed active.

2 When we reach 500 members - which will not be long now - the Go Corgi administrator will "paint" a picture for members of just how Go Corgi works, who is its parent body, who owns it, other components of the total organisation, financial aspects etc.

Stephen is not the only administrator of Go Corgi. I doubt very much if any of the Go Corgi administrators have ever owned a Corgi. It is not the point of their involvement.

Cindy,

Okay, I misunderstood you at first - Yes, I didn't think we were complaining,
just wondering - it would kind of like reading a really good book and not knowing the name of the author or anything about him/her.

Marketing is an extremely important factor in showing people that GoCorgi is here, but I believe that what makes a board is it's members and their responses to each other.

Edited for a typo only.

If you feel that my posts in your thread are not appropriate Michael I appologize, I could easily have started a new thread.

CorgiMum:------------I think it is fairly normal to email memberships every 6 months and advise them that their privileges of membership will be suspended without their participation. I know it is work to keep a board going and stale numbers don't help.------------end

CorgiMum:------------This is MHO, but I prefer to know what I am participating in from the begining. I'm not an expert, but have been with a few groups, and the rules of conduct etc have always been posted and very clear from the begining. As is who exactly is the person (s) that oversea what is posted and how everyday procedures are handled, who keeps the tone & information pertinent for the public to read. Making sure that all quotes, links, etc are checked and are in the best interest of the dogs. So, 500?

I do hope that my comments are not viewed as complaints by anyone, they are my observations and my honest attempt to be a good participant on GoCorgi, I am getting to know some very nice sharing people here, and am enjoying being a member.------------end

I just wanted to find any website that would talk about the Corgi breed.

What I found...was a whole family of Corgi owners !
Pem & Card !

** What helped ME to feel welcomed was when people started responding to my posts ! MY opinion...when someone responds to your post...it makes you feel (((happy))) <---

My two cents worth...

In response to some recent postings:
Don't look a gift horse in the mouth.
Curiousity killed the cat.
Which came first - the chicken or the egg?

Forgive me, I'm just having fun.

I wouldn't want to suspend members just because they don't post. What harm are they causing??

Five hundred members is a real milestone for internet discussion groups and it signals a real success story for the website providers. So let's all celebrate and at the same time the providers can tell their Go Corgi membership details that previously might have been regarded as sensitive information or non-disclosures.
