We are really a subversive, pro-Castro group and all the funds collected through subtle advertising and promoting dry food for dogs, go to helping ex-pat Cubans in the USA return to Cuba disguised as Hollywood film extras.
These Cubans are very very patient - and lots of fun. So must you be. |

Cubans, hehe. But will they finally allow cigars to be imported into the States after the Revolution (Obey the Corgi!!
)Seriously, I really enjoy the GoCorgi board. I got linked to it from a random post I read concerning corgis just before I got Trevor. Like many who only post now and then, I work full time, so this (close to midnight) is about the only time I have to log on and read what's new in the world of corgis. I have learned a lot just by reading everyone else's posts. Just as important, I feel comfortable chiming in on a subject when I feel I have something to add to the discussion. This is directly due to the friendliness of the board members. Again, if you have ever participated in a forum filled with Evil Trolls, just waiting to tell you how screwed up you and your ideas are, you realize what a wonderful thing GoCorgi is. Cigars. Yeh. There is a tobacco company behind every evil plot.
These Americanised Cubans are going to re-establish gigantic cigar factories on their little island and get stuck into the export drive and the womanisation of cigars (renamed cigar-ettes) and even a canine version called corgari. It will save the Cuban economy but I'm afraid the rest of the world is doomed. |

Patient,
I think we are trying to be....I am still waiting for that photo of you and Taylor and that big ribbon he won- promises, promises. Michael, surely you must have some suggestions up your sleeve to get at least 1/8 to 1/4 of the members to want to become active members on this forum. linda Last edited by corgimom; 08-15-2006 at 08:03 AM. |

I think this is still a great site. Corgis in America are growing in popularity and they are not as famous as a dachsund or retriever, but they deserve a community and place for owners and people interested in the breed to talk and discuss. Eventually, this site will grow and prosper. Give it time and patience. I think this is a wonderful site! I wish I found out about this site before I even got my corgi.
I think it's time to promote and bring awareness to this wonderful site. |

Go Corgi is a very very successful site as it is. The envy of many. So don't rock the boat too much otherwise it can easily sink. The more members the more diverse sites such as Go Corgi becomes and you then tend to gather in. shall we say, fringe and unusual members. There is suppose to be put in place a mechanism for reminding lapsed or inactive members of the growth of Go Corgi. The growth path from now need not be anywhere near as great as it has been in the past but that is not to deter further membership.
Go Corgi is not for the purists only - it is for people with Corgis, without Corgis, with dogs, without dogs, with fluffs and Corgis with any other faults that breach the text book standards - and I have seen a lot of bad fronts etc in the pics, with pure bred Corgis, with mixed breed Corgis, with pure bred Corgis to sell, wanting Corgis to buy, with Corgis who have been spayed/neutered. In other words, this site is for anyone with a thread of an interest in Corgis. The site has some wonderful features which helps make it interesting and it has a moderator that some times keeps the ball rolling if there is occasions of flagging subjects and a slowing of activity. NO one member can claim ownership of Go Corgi and their views are not necessarily the views of everyone or even the majority. As I said at the start, don't rock the boat too much or you'll help destroy a good thing and alienate too many members and potential members, and this site can easily go the way of so many others - down the drain or become a non-event. It is doing very well at present - perhaps too well because that is always a basis for producing a breeding ground for discontent for people who look for hidden things in closets. Gosh,
I didn't realize that asking educational questions was considered "rocking the boat" - so if we must stifle ourselves and not ask things which we can learn from and others can learn from, then that is too bad. There are a few members on this site that have had some great topics introduced into new threads to keep this site going on a regular basis and they should be commended for that. I found Go Corgi when someone of dubious character and intentions included it in their signature line and I came over to check it out. The individual did receive some advice she didn't want to hear and decided to not pursue Pembrokes (no loss there) and went back to her former breed. She may be one of the silent majority never bothering to unsubscribe here. What I initially found were some good people asking good questions but receiving not necessarily sound advice and a lot of misinformation. So I joined. Not that I pretend to know everything, it just seemed a different background and perspective was needed. Quote:

The message we seem to be receiving now is that the promise made for when 500 members was reached: "When we reach 500 members - which will not be long now - the Go Corgi administrator will "paint" a picture for members of just how Go Corgi works, who is its parent body, who owns it, other components of the total organisation, financial aspects etc." is not going to be fulfilled. This is about the first one that I have joined so I don't really understand how it works but there seems to be a mystery here. I love GoCorgi and I like to participate but I am beginning to wonder if there is something amiss here? Why the cloud of secrecy or is there a cloud of secrecy? I like to take someone at their word and 500 was the magical number so what is up Michael?

Michael,
You have mentioned many of your New Zealand friends and their Corgis in your walking group; would be nice if you could get them to join Go Corgi. I am surprised with your being Moderator of this site, and your involvement with promoting Corgis in New Zealand, and other groups that you are involved in, including doing agility with Taylor, that there is no other New Zealand Corgi owners who are members of this site. I would think that some of the "leading New Zealand" breeders that you have mentioned that you have spoken to, would have some good information to pass on in this forum, including their thoughts on what to look for before puchasing a Corgi pup.
