Tomorrow is A-Day!!
Andy-Day or Arrival-Day, whichever! My new little girl is coming home!!!
I have been trying to make Rhys's last day as an "only child" be as enjoyable as possible (of course, it has been storming and thundering off and on all day ). Regardless, I want him to remember he is my little baby.I am a bit worried about bringing in Andy. What should I do to make the transition as easy as possible? Thanks, Tana

Treat Rhys more than equal to Andy for the first week or two. Continue giving Rhys completely separate attention - and some of this will be natural because Rhys exercising is divorced from Andy for quite some time.
Remember Andy will get even more excited because there is a strange Corgi in her midst and so watch out for her relieving herself as the result of this. Don't share Rhys toys with Andy. Feed them completely separately. |

Hey Tana - how exciting for you all!
Just make sure Rhys does get a bit of extra attention for a little while, but don't change things too much. Feed them at the same time - but feed Rhys first, that will tell him he's the number 1 Corgi still. It will take them time to work out between them which one is the boss. I think they will be fine. Rupe who is notorious for being rude and not very welcoming to new dogs of any kind, has done very well with Jem. He's shared his toys, although if he's not happy she has something, he'll just go and take it away from her. The only problem was once the second day when he went after her in the car over a piece of doughnut - Rupe is a food guy. It won't take long for things to work out, Rhys seems very laid back and easy going from all you've told us. Have fun, take lots of photos!!!

I can't wait to hear stories of Rhys & his new sister!
I of course have no advice, since I am deprived and only have ONE corgi. Poor me . . . WAAAAHHHHH . . . So I just wanted to say Congrats & good luck. Give Rhys a kiss from me (and one from Jackie too).

She's here! And she seems very happy...Rhys started wrestling with her the second she came in the door! That's what they have been doing most of the day.
![]() It's funny...I tried putting her in her crate to give Rhys some "alone" time, but he cried because he couldn't get to her. Oh, well...he has exhibited a few jealous tendencies. He already peed on the floor once. I found out that she will not put up with his bull...at one point he was trying to play with her and she didn't want to...so she snapped at him. Obviously she is no shy daisy. But when he barked his little "watch dog" bark at somebody out the window, she ran into the other room! Poor kid, she'll have to get used to it. I took some video and pictures as soon as she came in...I will try to post it on her dogster page sometime after they have gone to bed. ![]() ETA- Find pics and video here. http://www.dogster.com/pet_page.php?i=397513 Last edited by disraeli; 10-13-2006 at 11:39 PM. |

Sorry I haven't been posting much the past couple of days. Been busy experiencing the joy of two Corgis...and my internet has been off and on for some reason.
Right now, the two of them are tired and sleeping near each other on the couch...I will try to get a pic of them. Oh, they are so adorable together! Now I understand what all you have been enjoying with your pairs (and triples). They are great! ![]() PS - more pics on this site and at dogster.

Andy is really a beautiful tri-I love her markings- and the photo of you holding her is really a nice photo- I still havent been able to decide what my next corgi will be ( tri or red and white, though i do know i want another little boy) I have plenty of time to figure it all out though- I am thinking maybe next year or the year after at the latest i will get a brother for Dillon..Have fun with your two corgis and know that some people are jealous- like me, and i know fluffypants wants another corgi too.
