I'm glad I asked for a side-view. You can see her ribs!!.
Dewey, what was the reason your friend said as to why the mom is so thin.

Sorry michael, you are wrong- $1,000 is not uncommon for a decent quality PET only corgi...This is not NZ. I think that if this breeder is interested in talking to you about the one male left, you might meet with her and make sure to ask a lot of questions, and if she is a good breeder she will ask you a lot of questions too. Often in the US, the dogs that are super "cheap" in price have parents that have not had the appropriate screenings like eyes, hips, elbows, VwD and other genetic issues.. I personally would want to make sure that the puppy i was bringing home had a better chance of a long, happy and health life. Look for the health guarantee...and someone who wants you to come see their dogs, and wants you to see where they are kept and how...
That last photo of Dewey's mom- oh dear lord, poor baby, she is seriously underweight -very poor quality and that tail, was that a natural tail? or was that a botched docking? She is just poor quality and in very poor condition.

He said that the breeder and his vet said females some times look that way when they are nursing.

I am not mad at Aaron. He genuinely tried to help me and he's not trying to trick me or take my money. He's only defending his friend which I can understand. I just wish he would step back and see the dogs for what they really are.

Last night he told me that 'Dewey' was the runt of the litter. He told me he was going to be small but it didn't cross my mind that he might be the runt.

This is the breeders official website. Her dogs all look so beautiful and her house is amazing! She has a koi pond..! I've always wanted one!

I'm somewhat intimated and a little nervous. Will she ask me questions that I can't answer and then berrate me for my ignorance? Will I slip up and say something stupid? Will she believe I work at a petstore?

I've done my homework and I will try! Maybe Dewey will come from Dalarno..?

You may want to check out petfinders.com. They have some corgis listed that may be in your price range.

OK, so that is much more like it! Dalerno is well known in the corgi world. They have been breeding for over 20 yrs, the dogs look wonderful and in great condition...THAT is what a corgi looks like. Just be yourself and be honest and if it is meant to be then it will happen. Don't worry too much. When will you be talking to her? or going there? I wish you the best of luck and hope that you get a puppy from them, they are lovely looking corgis...

Okay, what kind of questions should I expect? Her corgis are so lovely and if her reputation is that strong then I REALLY want a Dalarno dog! Heck, I wanna live at Dalarno lol.

Those are beautiful Corgis Dewey and she has been breeding a long time and has their best interest at heart. She is going to want to make sure that her pup will have the best chance of having a forever home with you. Just be yourself and be honest. Write down the questions you want to ask.

If by some chance this would not work out, Bonnie had good advice in checking out www.petfinder.com and looking at the Corgis there. Not all rescue dogs come with baggage - some are given up due to divorce, deaths in families or elderly people going into nursing homes; there can be lots of scenarios where the dog is not at fault for its situation. There are quite a few nice sounding Corgis on there and you could end up with one that is already potty trained.

Good luck to you and let us know about the outcome with the Dalerno pup - they are beautiful and by the way, I want that "Corgi only Barking sign"

What a great website for Dalerno! Very happy you found them. Like Linda said be yourself and write down your questions.

At the very least consider this a class in Corgi 101. Now you will know what to look for in a corgi and your one step closer to Dewey. AND at best you have found Dewey!

Good luck - paws crossed!

Just saw the new side picture of the Mommy Corgi - so very sad - ribs showing and look how sad her eyes are! She is the corgi if she is lucky that Debbie Glencorgi or someone like her gets a chance to rescue!

You can only answer the questions the breeder asks truthfully Dewey. I consider myself a very good Corgi owner and yet because I live in an apartment I've had 2 breeders refuse to sell me pups. That's fine - the breeder (a good breeder) is only looking out for their pups.
We really hope this will work out for you and that this one is Dewey. What's meant to be will be with our pets - I believe that. I waited months for my first, Riley, in agony of excitement and anticipation to find out it had been a false pregnancy. I had to wait 12 more weeks after that for her - and I wouldn't have had any other dog - she was right for me.
Fingers and all paws crossed at our home for yours!

Called Dalarno. Wasn't nervous, felt very prepared. Too bad she didn't have a dog for me. Well, she did it's just it wasn't worth $400 (her words, don't blame her at all though) She refered me to another woman who also breeds corgis saying that the dogs might be cheaper.

Sadly, they weren't.

She says we can keep in touch. I can save up enough money to buy her dog by then. It'll be $800 though.

This will be a true test of patience.

Sorry she didn't have a puppy for you! But you are 1/2 way there - could be by the time she has another litter of puppies you will be able to meet her price. Don't give up - you never know when good luck will strike!

I have spent the last five - six weeks being "secondary" care giver to a litter and their dam. I know how thin they can get and raggedy they can look even with the most optimum of care and premium quality food - as much as they need. (This isn't my first go round at this either.) This poor little girl does not fall into that category.

Which should tell you by now that he doesn't know much about dogs. He would no longer be a trusted source of information in regards to dog matters IF I were in your shoes.

Another little tid bit of what should have been pertinent information he failed to disclose. As I have said in other discussions, I don't like the term "runt" and just because he is the smallest one now, doesn't mean that he may not catch his litter mates later on.
