Linda - I'm not familiar with your pitching arm so not sure if Debbie Glencorgi's newspaper would hit the mark SO advice is spray the neighbor LOL
the dog is just doing what dogs do... I was thinking more of just a pee spot on their lot but I will leave the details up to your discretion Sometimes a pee line must be drawn in the sand - I mean lawn One good advantage of having a yard is I can go back in daylight and pick up after The Girls but am thinking of putting a flashlight by the door - thanks for the inspiration Cardiguy! Disraeli - you and I think a lot alike LOL!

I always carry a small flashlight in my dog coat pocket. I am sick of stepping in other people's dogs presents while I am picking up after mine! It is a city bylaw that you must pick up after dogs, however, as with most laws, unless enforced there will always be a minority that gives us the majority the bad name.
I do have to admit - with much guilt - that Rupe had a 3rd poop this morning and I was out of bags! I was mortified!!! I managed to get it to the side of the road and cover it with leaves so no one would step in it. I hate that - but sometimes you can't come back and are really stuck! I find that when I see other people not picking up after their dogs by yelling - very sweetly - that I have an extra bag they can have - it usually works!

I live waaaaaay out in the boonies. No sidewalks. And still I pick up poop. The only time I don't is if we are walking along a wooded part of the road (no homes) but even then, I find something (like a tissue from my pocket) and pick it up and toss it into the woods.
I saw in one of the many cataolgs I get in the mail a coal-miner looking hat with the light on the top. Balncing two dogs, poo bags and a flashlight challenges my limited coordination. I thought the hat would be a great idea! It is interesting.... non dog people do watch who is and who isn't picking up poo. There is an elderly woman who lives alone on the other side of the lake. I was walking Tuck early one morning and she scared me. She came out and told me how nice it was that I cleaned up after Tucker. She had brought out a piece of cheese for him! "Good doggie owner, good doggie owner"! She went on to name names of who doesn't pick up after the dogs!!!! How embarassing! She clearly is the poo police. So now when I pass her house I sometimes look to see if there is any extra poo lying around and clean it up for her.

Susan: That is too funny. The poop police. I agree that I see people who watches dog owners if they pick up their dog's poop. When I'm not with Milo, I also look. Though, I won't be naming names exactly and keeping an eye on them like a hawk like the elderly woman you explained.
What is really bad is really wet and sticky poop. I know someone who stepped on it and boy, that was bad. I think it depends on the dog's diet. When Milo eats his kibbles, his poop is the right texture/consistency. The science of dog poop! When he eats way too much or steals some of our food, his poop is more sticky, wet, and mushy. Sorry for the graphic details, guys. =) |

Did she poop? Was it solid? How many times? Did she strain? Did it look "normal"? Such an exciting life we lead at our house! By the way, as baggie insurance, I recommend getting one of the BAGS ON BOARD dispensers that attach to your leash. I used to worry about not bringing enough on our walks, but now we are always covered. Am i cool or what?

It's good to be aware of your dogs poops Fluffy-P. That can often be the first sign of a problem with their health.
You wanna know from poop and exciting lives try 5 cats and 2 dogs worth of poop! I'm still trying to figure out how to make fuel for my car from it all - then I'd make a million dollars or so!

I've said it before, and I'll say it again . . .
We are a bunch of PARTY ANIMALS! ![]() Funny story . . . As it is now Fall here, I wore my jacket for the first time a few weeks ago. I put my hand in my pocket and . . . pulled out a baggie! They're everywhere! Before we used the bags on board thing, we had them in all of our coat pockets, pants pockets, my purse . . . sometimes I found them in the washer because someone forgot to remove them from their pockets!

What a thread this turned out to be! It's nice to see that even dog owners can feel so strongly on this subject. I not only have yelled out to neighbors to take their dog's poop with them, but one time I had a neighbor who walked their dog like clockwork every morning, and like clockwork, this dog did his business right at my gate's entrance(or my next door neighbor's). This went on for almost a year before I got creative. I made up a cheap sign (a big banner, really) and posted it to my gate at night. The next morning, this neighbor, and every other neighbor, found this sign. It was a circle with a slash going over a dog standing by a pile of ____(think ghostbusters). The problem never happened again.

Justin and I live out in the hills and have about 4-5 neighbors on our court. It's a very spacious woodsy lifestyle, and we often time have lots of deer and racoons, every so often a mountain lion or bear. Their poop I don't mind, lets me know they are around. However, two of our neighbors each have a dog that they let run wild and never watch where they poop. One is a chocolate lab that poops in the trees by my driveway (on my property) and the other is a big Malamute that poops anywhere in our yard. I tell you what...i'm so close to picking it up and leaving it on the back door step of their house. drives me nuts.

You know, I love the dogs, they are both very kind and sweet...but you don't see me letting my dog run wild and raise hell and poo in their yard. But Jess, you have the right idea, fire would be a bit more dramatic, and it's always funny to watch them try to stomp it out.
On a more realistic note, how does one go about asking the owners to watch where their dog poops? If MY dog poos in MY yard, and I dont clean it up, my own fault, but hey it's MY yard. What is the appropriate way? I'd sure love to have Emilie's hubby let them know what the program is, but I often times don't see it until after the fact. I'm thinking just wrap it up in a little bag w/ a note that says..."Found this, I think it belongs to you."
