Jessica, are you giving people ideas I think teenagers are noted for doing that, but without the fire, they just plop it on the porch and ring the doorbell with the hopes the people will step on it - and no, I don't personally know any teens that have done this, just heard about it.

There is nothing worse than stepping in those surprises left by lazy dog walkers unless it would be taking an early 5am morning walk with my own dogs in our yard - - two dogs, one set of eyes without glasses, and no shoes!

Deb, where are you? I think I solved your problem...

and it will keep your head dry if it is raining

One good advantage of having a yard is I can go back in daylight and pick up after The Girls but am thinking of putting a flashlight by the door - thanks for the inspiration Cardiguy!

Disraeli - you and I think a lot alike LOL!

No need to carry a flashlight and it will keep your head dry when it is raining, just remember to keep your head down(so the light will shine on the ground) to avoid stepping in messes.

It will also keep your head dry on rainy days. Just remember to keep your head down as to aim the light towards the ground so you don't step into nasty stuff

Deb, where are you? I think I found something you could use for those outings in the dark. And best of all, it will keep your head dry if it is raining. Just remember to keep looking down at the ground(so the light) can shine on anything you don't want to step in.

Now which color do you want

Wow all of you people are very very very very very very very nice. Whenever one of neighbors does anything inapropriate whether it has to do with a dog or not I immedialty let them know. I think that this may be the best way to handle it becuase if you say something immediatley you set the tone of I am not somebody you can walk over and b you yourself are usually calmer because you have not let the problem pester you for a long period time usually making the conversation much more civil. (wow that was a huge run-on sentence my english teacher wife and mother would be very dissapointed in my writing skills.)

Funny you all should have this thread going. On the way back from the moutain vacation we stopped several times for Sassy to stretch her legs and run around and of course to go to the bathroom. Well my husband attached an empty camera film cannister to her leash with a rope and I fill it with small sandwich bags, big enough you can get your hand in and pick up the present and turn inside out and throw away. Well on our way back we stopped at rest area on the interstate and I took Sassy to the doggie area, well I want you to know that she did not sniff and run around as usual. She simply walked on the edge and would not get on that grassy area and it was rather dark and I could not figure out why. My husband came back and took over while I went and when I got back he was in the car with Sassy. I asked did she go, he said "No! She won't step in there because it is covered with other presents that no one bothered to pick up". We had to stop at the next rest area and find her a grassy area to go, my prima donna. But I could not believe that no one cleaned up after their dog or that the road department or whatever runs the rest areas did not clean that up. There was a dog owner in the campground that would not pick up after her dogs either, just cover the present with leaves. Which to me was even worse than at least leaving in view so you could at least see it and not step in it. Really makes me mad the irresponsibility of some dog owners.
