Picking up after your dog

I find this interesting how I see certain dog owners (never a corgi owner) not pick up after their DOG! Isn't this against the law or something?

We ALWAYS pick up after Milo when he goes for his walk. We bring two bags just in case he takes two potties. I must confess only once we couldn't pick it up because we had NO bags and this was his third potty stop.

Our parents take Milo out for potty sometimes. One incident, while Milo was using the potty, the home owner comes up to my FMIL (future mother-in-law) and said, "You better pick up after your damn dog. You damn dog owners." She replied back, "Can't you see I have a bag? We do pick up after him. Maybe other bad owners don't. Don't yell at me!" Bravo to her. Other dog owners give us a bad rep. But, that home owner was a pure jerk.

I have seen dog owners that don't pick up after their dogs and would like to yell at them. I haven't yet.

I have a neighbor that doesn't always pick up after his dog and I am tempted to yell out "do you need an extra bag" when he doesn't pick up. But he lives right across the street and I don't want to make an enemy and would feel sort of embarrassed to yell "need an extra bag" at him so I keep quiet. I not only pick up all the time but carry a flashlite for our night walks so I don't miss anything when I am away from the street lights.

This is a pet peeve of mine as well. I need another eyeball, so I can keep one eye on Jackie, one eye on where *she* is going (to make sure she doesn't eat anything), and the 3rd one is to watch where *I* am walking, so I don't step in any presents that other have left behind!!!

We also have neighbors kitty corner from us who have a dog that never seems to pee and poop in its own yard, but uses the adjacent yards(mine included) Her hubby does not want pee stains on the grass so she devised a plan and thinks we are all too dumb to notice. Anytime she is out in the yard she has the dog on a leash and "somehow" as she does her yard work or whatever she is doing her hand lets go of the leash; the dog wanders away on its own into other yards and does his duty. She then of course looks up as if she has no idea of what happened and will then come calling and looking for him - but at that point, he has completed the task and her yard remains clean; and no pee to ruin the grass.

I will say, she does come back and get the poop. Just the other day I came home and saw their dog one street over without a leash and called her(I think this is about the 5th time) This time She said her and her daugther had just came home, and the garage was open and the door to the house was open and the dog obviously got out and she had no idea how because her other kid and husband were at work

There are a few people that walk their dogs way late at night and don't bother to pick up the mess and I know based on what I find it is not something Cody made.

Cardiguy: Wow, you even carry a flashlight. Now, that's impressive!

Linda: This makes me think they purposely walk them during the night so no one sees them not picking up after the dog.

Ah, owners who do not pick up after their dogs - the bane of our collective existences! I too keep one eye on where I'm going and one eye on what is on the ground when we're out walking. And you're right, these negligent owners can give us a bad rep in the eyes of non-dog owners. We have nice dirt walking trails around the neighborhood, but once we are on the sidewalks headed back home, I never let Trevor walk on anyone's lawn, just because I don't wan't anyone yelling at us or giving us the evil eye.

Emilie,

Maybe all those piles scooped up and placed back in his yard (piled high) would send a message. And stick a note in it "Could this be yours"

And Mabel,

Late night dog walks along the sidewalk are purposely planned that way as they know they will not be seen. Never fails, my mailbox area seems to be a favorite spot for a dog to poop.

Wow, Emilie. This thread got you going. But, I very much understand your vent. You even drive back to get the missed poop. You and cardiguy really impressed me!

Winter is not that bad and hard to pick up poop! Geesh! Those lazy people. I can understand if you have a bad back but still.

Linda: Yep, I knew it. Those jerks.

Have anyone stepped on dog poop accidentally because of some irresponsible owners?

So far, I have NOT I think. Hahah. *scratching my head*

Mabel

I HATE when people don't pick up after their dogs!!! I live in a dog-friendly apartment complex and there are doggy "potty stations" (trash cans with bag dispensers) all over the place. On each of the potty stations, there is a sign that reminds people that they can be fined (by the city or the complex) for not picking up after Fido. I pick up after my dogs - I hate stepping in dog poo as much as any non-dog owner! Ugh...it's just laziness.

Oh, and the potty station right in front of our building? Some jerk keeps filling it with household trash....despite the fact that our apartments have 5-nights-a-week valet trash service. I want to figure out who that is and deposit my doggy poopies in their trash, with a note saying "well, the potty station was FULL!"

Oh How funny - I am out at 5:30 a.m. also - half awake and I know there is always a pile I left from the night before so I never know if I may encounter it and at times I have!.

Deb, are you telling me it is okay for Cody to leave a land mine in their yard I value your advice. And do I spray the dog or the neighbor since they are both outside at the same time
