Ruby is not allowed on the bed or furniture because
My wife and I a couple of years ago decided to let Ruby come up on the bed with us. We even put a stool for her to jump on to help her get on the bed. Well about 3 days later we noticed a pool of urine next to the bed and passed it off as an accident, next day same thing. We made the connection and said that is it from her being on the bed as Ruby must have interpreted this as a "promotion in rank" Last year while visiting some friends with Ruby, we put her on the foot ottomon. When she got off, she immediately squatted and made a poop, and she never has accidents in a house. We have now learned our lession- no high spots for Ruby.

Tandegal:
I caught something in your last post, the ear flapping you mentioned. Miss Gambler has always snapped her big ears, and when she was two her ears were suddenly becoming very bruised and raw. The vet had never seen such, wanted to do all sorts of testing, was convinced that it was something really bad. I KNEW WHAT IT WAS AND SHE DID NOT LISTEN! We have had to train Miss Gambler to not snap her ears(they bruise so easily!) and with the use of over the counter antibiotic creme to get them to heal from that one incident(that's all the medical treatment she needed!) and a daily pill to add moisture to her fur and skin to make them extra healthy, she's fine. But she did a lot of trauma to her ears with that ear flapping! |

I am so glad Chip just gets on the bed and gives us kisses to let us know he has to go outside. I would say that Corgis ears are delicate.

Dillon will lay in bed with us for a few hours at night and cuddle- but then he would rather get his sleep in his own bed, he has his soft crate in our bedroom, so he ends up putting himself to bed at night! If i wake up in the middle of the night i zip his crate closed, if not , then first thing in the morning, he will use the doggy stairs i got him on the end of my side of the bed, he comes up and gives me a few kisses and curls up next to me until it is time to get up and out of bed...I love the way he wakes me up!

Whenever Taylor has jumped on my son's bed either by his design or with Nathan's encouragement, he has only remained there briefly.
A house trained Corgi is exactly that and will not toilet inside a house unless in an absolute emergency. Somehow Ruby has got her wires crossed and needs re-educating otherwise she might have some medical condition such as incontinence. Make sure she has no liquids well before it is time for bed sleeping and before she hops off the bed in the morning, take her outside either by picking her up or (better still) escourting her to the door. |
