Darci and her shoulder injury scare
Saturday am Darci and I were watching the today show, and resting together snuggled in our blanket in the recliner.
I went to get up and she was jumping down and got her foot tangled in the blanket and fell on her left shoulder. I picked her up and checked her shoulder and arm real good and she seemed to be ok. A few minutes later I put her down and she was limping very bad.... So off to the vet we went, she had an xray with no obvious fracture. They think a pulled muscle or tendon. Put her on bed rest and pain meds. This am she seems to be better, still limping but not near as bad as it was. Oh and during her exam, she checked her teeth, we have a fractured back tooth.... Argh.... She said were the tooth is, to pull it would be a very painful recovery, so we will watch it very close. Now I have company coming in a few hours for my moms b-day dinner, I havent even started cleaning the house or gone to the grocery store. I better get very busy.........

Cindy:
So sorry to hear about Darci. Hope she is feeling better. The Dentist vet that I took chip too said that she has done many root canals on dog's with fractured teeth. Hope it doesn't come to that. Did the Vet say if it would heal?

Glad to hear Darci didn't brake anything from her fall. Sorry about the tooth. It is amazing how things just show up. And imagine if Darci hadn't fallen and you didn't take her to the vet. When would you have noticed the tooth? Things happen for a reason... Hope you can get the tooth fixed without it being too painful.

Cindy, sorry to hear about Darci,
So the vet did not feel that the tooth caused her any discomfort? Just last week I was at me vet and the lady that worked there was telling me that her dog was in surgery having a fractured tooth removed, but she did not mention the location of it. And also glad that nothing was wrong with her shoulder

Poor Darci, hope she is feeling better now
Buta had an accident this morning with her new monkey soft toy, she was chewing on the monkey's nose & all of a sudden, she was frantically using her paws to push something from her mouth. She has managed to removed the nose & it got stuck in between her teeth haha she got quite a shock but i managed to pull the nose out of her teeth. She kept away from the monkey after that accident haha She even tried walking a huge detour just to keep away from the monkey LOL really funny

Thanks guys for all the well wishes.
Darci has done much better today than yesterday, but tonight her shoulder seemed to be more tender. With her tooth, its the side of her tooth where a small sliver has been sheered (sp) off. You can see a small red spot that the vet said was the pulp of the tooth. She doesnt act at all like it bothers her. Bonnie, whats the name of the vet in knoxville that you used, I would love to take Darci in for a consult on that tooth.

Cindy:
I sent you an email with the name and address. She told me a lot of dogs break their teeth on nylabones because they are harder then the dogs teeth. That is one reason why I didn't have Chip's tooth pulled because it is so painful. He is doing great since his dental work and his nibbling on people has stopped. She said that is one symptom of a toothache if they nibble.

I hope Darci is feeling better. Doesn't it just break your heart when they are in pain?
As for Buta's run in w/ her monkey ("Buta had an accident this morning with her new monkey soft toy, she was chewing on the monkey's nose & all of a sudden, she was frantically using her paws to push something from her mouth. She has managed to removed the nose & it got stuck in between her teeth haha she got quite a shock but i managed to pull the nose out of her teeth"): That reminded me of something that happened w/ Tucker just days after I brought him home. He was out in the yard with me and quietly chewing on a stick. Suddenly he's gaging. In my mind I am thinking he's choking, he'll die before I can get him to a Vet, everyone was right, I can't handle a Corgi, I killed this little puppy..... Suddenly I came to my senses, opened his moth, couldn't find anything in his throat. What I did find is that he had a small twig stuck to the roof of his mouth. It was wedged between teeth on each side of his mouth. I picked it out. He lokked at me then went back to chewing his stick. I think I took every stick he came in contact away from him for about a week then gave up. Both my dogs will pass up a Nyla bone or toy for a stick. The'd rather chase after each other w/ a stick than with a ball. The good news is that they don't swallow most of the stuff they chew. They just chew it and leave the pile for me to clean up.

Poor Darci - hope she feels better soon. Is it possible the tooth was injured in the fall as well (teeth clicking together when she hit the floor)? I hope that doesn't start hurting her too. Corgi kisses from Jackie & scritches from me. I hope that you got the house cleaned in time!!!
Funny stories from Eri & Susan!!
