Fargo has picked up a bad case of the whines lately. I'm not sure why or where it's coming from but he's just been very whiney the past couple weeks. I was wondering if this is a Corgi thing, if he's bored, or if for some reason there might be something wrong with him healthwise. He doesn't seem to be acting any different healthwise so I don't think there's anything wrong with him physically. He'll whine while he's playing with a toy, when he's walking through the house, or when he's laying down. It's worse sometimes more than others. My trainer said to just not pay attention to it so that he doesn't think he'll get something from it. Hopefully it'll just go away... Has anyone had something like this happen?
I haven't seen that, but I would say the same thing as your trainer. Don't pay attention to it and he'll probably stop. Jackie has tried the whining thing a few times in her life, but I didn't give in, so she doesn't do it anymore.
That said - just to be sure there's no other reason for it - you might want to take him in for a check up. Once you are certain he is physically ok, then you can ignore him in good conscience!
I would get Fargo checked out by a vet just in case and for ease of mind. I know before I had Chip's tooth fixed, Chip acted normal. But when I took him to the vet, she said that he must have been in a lot of pain for a long time and he never showed any signs.

So he's whining as he walks through the house and also when he lays down?
I am going to agree with Fluffypants and Chips mom - If it doesn't seem like he is trying to get your attention for some reason, I would have him checked out - maybe something is physically bothering him - he is playing and eating okay?
Yep he whines when he's just walking around by me or my boyfriend. He doesn't do it if he's off by himself in another room. He has been playing constantly as usual..running around with his toys. He seems to be eating normally..but maybe I should just take him to the vet to make sure. I wouldn't want anything to be wrong with him and me just ignoring it!!
Sweetlychee- Fargo doesn't seem to be in pain, limping, or in any other sort of discomfort at all. He never whines for food..he's not a very food oriented dog. When I put food down, he has never been the type to run up and snarf it down. He's always ate slow and took his time. The only thing that I could really think is he wants us to play with him or he's bored...
I live with a couple of first class whiner Cardigan boys and in my case like father like son. There's nothing wrong with them, not in pain, they just whine when they want attention, or to go with you somewhere or up on the bed or ... and as they are intact show dogs, the world sounds like it is coming to an end should a girl be in season.
First step with anything is eliminate any physical medical reasons, but more than likely it is just an attention getting ploy to get you to do whatever it is he's wanting at the moment.
Fargo has been eating and drinking like normal. I honestly think it is just an attention thing. He loves to have someone playing catch with him or any other game you can think of and when one of the many people that are over, are not paying attention, sometimes he will start whining. Those crazy corgis!
I am assuming that when it is time for bed and its lights out then he is sleeping okay? I would think if he was not feeling right, he would be whining during the night time also?
Yep, he's good to go at night. Once in awhile he protests for a couple minutes by barking(then giving in) but usually its nighty night! And he's definitely a good sleeper..he's still past out when I wake up for work in the morning. On weekends, he'll sleep forever! So we've got no problem in that area...

If Taylor started whining (crying) out of the blue, I'd be worried because he has never cried yet apart from the odd yelp when one of his feet are accidently stood on. But he has taken to growl softly and for lengthy periods which just make me laugh because I know where he is coming from. Various mambers of the family will admonish him if he yells out at things that they can't see or hear. So Taylor has found an option - the long low growl that no one possibly can get offended with.
