Thought that I would add something else: I was working on my laptop, and had it plugged in since it did not have much of a charge, with Miss Gambler at my feet napping. A couple of times while I was working the computer acted up, flickered is the only way I can think to describe it. Later, when I was putting everything up, I noticed that the cord had been chewed. Miss Gambler had not been sleeping the entire time, she had been chewing on my computer cord. She could have fried us both! Cost me $50 to get a new cord!

My best "naughty" pet story was from my soulmate kitty, clinton, who would constantly get on the counters and steal food..well once i grabbed a phone call while cooking the dinner...and in the minute i was on the phone with my back turned, he jumped up on the counter, grabbed a rib eye steak ( covered in a bbq marinade) and dragged it off the counter, dropped it on the floor, at which point i turned around, to see my 11 lb cat dragging a 1 lb steak across the floor..leaving a big sticky bbq mess! LOL! All i could do was laugh.
He also was a coffee drinker, and would share my coffee in the morning with me...that i allowed in small bits, but if i set my coffee cup down and left for anything, he would perch up on the table and either lap at the coffee ( i didnt mind that) or worse, stick his paw in my coffee to lick it off his paws! All the things that cat did that were so crazy and destructive -toiletpaper rolls were meant for pulling all over the place, shoe laces were meant for chewing ( not the ends either so it could still be used, he would chew in the middle of the tongue portion of the shoe where the shoe lace was laced!) He chewed cords, mini blinds, and one time ate a 4 inch section out of a couch cover that was used to cover all the damage on that couch caused his scratching. He was a real handful, but the love of my life and i really do believe that he had a paw in sending me Dillon -so good, obedient, sweet and non destructive to compensate for the 12 yrs of destruction I had with Clinton. I'm really enjoying reading about other naughty pups and kittys! I agree with Missy Gamblers's mom, we should share funny stories. I can relate to Dillydoodle about kitty Clinton. I had Maddie cat for 17 years and he was soooo naughty. He loved to get on the kitchen counter, knock food off of it so he and my other cat and Milo would share the spoils. Once I was making spaghetti and walked into the kitchen to find Maddie sitting ON the stove, dipping his paw into the marinara and licking it off his paw...he had marinara sauce on his cheeks, chest......eeewwww! My other cat and Milo patiently sat on the floor looking up wistfully, maybe hoping a little sauce or a meatball would find its way to the floor. I learned to never ever leave anything edible unattended if it was on the counter or stove as long as Maddie was around.
He was a character and the boss of Milo and Tiramisu and I do miss him. If ever something naughy was afoot usually Maddie cat was the ringleader. Maddie liked ice tea and I could never let a glass sit unattended because he would be found face in glass happily drinking away! He also loved baby's breath so I always had to remove it whenever I got a flower arrangement. He loved flowers in general and would stick his nose in an arrangement and sniff and sniff. When he got really sick and couldn't jump up on things I sometimes would get some flowers from the grocery store and put them in a short vase on the floor so he could sit or lay beside it and sniff away. Even when he no longer had a desire to eat he still loved to sniff his flowers. He was a character. That is what is so great about animals, they just do what they do with no apologies and they are endlessly entertaining. |

I absolutely love the interaction between cats and dogs. We have a 34 pound cat(photo is in our gallery) and Miss Gambler is his best friend, and partner in crime. Miss Gambler can also be a tattletale, and then Bubba will give her the cold shoulder for a day or so. Bubba loves to get into Miss Gambler's crate and he'll knock the water bowl around and make a huge mess. I know that he does this on the days he just wants to pay back Miss Gambler. Also, we didn't put the weight on the cat, he came from the Humane Society that way, and yes, we watch it, he's just a really big boy, and healthy.)

Emilie,
All three of my cats love people food and any porkchop, steak, or hamburger that is left on the counter for more than a few seconds is "Up for grabs". The one thing that I have caught Cody doing is he will on occasion shred up tissues left in the bathroom garbage cans, but that is about it. When I was in my mid 20's, and married, I had gotten a Husky Mix from the local Humane society. He was a gentle dog, but a bit crazy and hyper. He mainly was kept in the house, but we had an outdoor pen attached to the garage also with an in/out door to the garage because lots of times he would be panting in the house, because he would just become too warm and wanted to be outside and especially enjoyed being out in the snow. I remember when my daughter was about two and we had left a garbage bag filled with dirty diapers out in the garage. What a mistake that turned out to be because he ripped open the bag and dragged everyone of those dirty diapers into his pen and shredded them to pieces Not a pleasant thing to clean up.MissGamblersMommy, When Cody was about 6 months old; one afternoon he began barking furiously by one of my lamps on an end table. He was on the sofa, hanging over the arm rest and it was quite unusual for him to be doing that. Of course I went to check it out and here the cord was shorting out/sparking and smoking(courtesy of my cord chewing cat). I had posted about this a long time ago, but I really think that was just so smart of Cody to let me know that something was not right thinking about what could have really happened had I not been home. |

CorgiMom: He probably saved your house, maybe even your life, as well as his and his buddy. I wonder if this is a Corgi thing. With them being herders, I guess it is extremely natural to treat the cats as their flock. In our case though, our cat is the same size as our dog!

Has anyone's Corgi tried to herd other pets? Milo tried to herd his two cat friends and it was a disaster. He has better success herding children. He hasn't had an ounce of herding training but I once witnessed him herd children around an infant sitting on the floor while at a family get together. He would not let the children leave that baby...if one kid tried to go to the kichen he would "block" him and kind of push him back to the baby. It really was something to see.

They were used for two purposes on the farm to herd the animals, and to watch the children(keep them in a certain area), so yes, they herd kids. Wonder why daycares don't hire them? That's a thought.

My Corgi looooves children, and they like him. I noticed he is a kid magnet, guess because Corgis are on their level and therefore not as intimidating. Milo got a big wet smooch from a toddler at a dog benefit once. She toddled right up to him, put a hand on each side of his snout, pulled him towards her and planted a big wet one right on his fuzzy dog lips. He just sat there, accepting the love.

The kids would love it, and so would Zia. There are so many certifications out there, I bet if you looked hard enough, there would be one that would allow you to have her in the room as an aide, seriously. I could not imagine being without Miss Gambler. She is my mini-me, and my shadow.

My husband brought Zia to school one day and showed her to the kids. They loved her. Just thought it would be great to have her there to herd the kids down the hall. Maybe they would stay in line and be quiet! Not likely!! LOL!!
