They are a long established maker of diecast model toy cars, planes, boats, etc. Their logo is a picture of a corgi which supposedly gives the impression of a small solid well built toy.

I heard, or I should say read & saw them the very first time I typed Corgi into Google Image.

I was very surprised. They are said to be excellent models.
(But of course! )

Cardiguy: When I was searching for a corgi, I saw many links to the diecast toy company. At first it gave me some confusion but later on understand they were separate. A toy company and a dog breed. It is great to hear others use the name and how they apply it.

These are very well known and collectable toys made in England for the past 50 years. Being Canadian of British decent, my brother and I grew up with many of these diecast cars, planes and figurines. Just wish I still had them - who knew E-Bay would be around in the '60's!!

The Corgi brand of diecast models has been very well known, and popular in Australia since the 1950s

The name Corgi was chosen for three reasons:

It was short and catchy.
The models were to be produced in Swansea (Wales).
Because of its status in being strongly associated with the Royal Family.

The Corgi brand pioneered the use of interiors and clear plastic windows in their models.

Before I knew there was a dog called a Corgi, I knew of Corgi diecast toys that could fit into a small box of matches. It stood for smallness - like the Corgi, quality - like the Corgi, toughness - like the Corgi, and likeness to the actual object.
