Has anyone seen the Bow Wow Beanies by Ty? My step-mother bought Zip and Zia some today. They are really cute. They have a crinkle and a squeaker inside. One is a mouse and the other is a camo bone. I did not know there was Ty Beanies for dogs!

are the TY beanies for dogs meant for dogs? i only ask becuase i knew someone who gave her dog a real ty beanie to play with and i was nervous about the little beans inside and the small plastic parts like the eyes and such that could be a choking hazzard...just checking..

Oh Amanda your pups' game sounds hysterical. My poor corgi has no puppy brothers or sisters to play with yet, only the kitties, who are not much fun ( other than to chase)...we may have to get a second corgi down the road to "fix" this problem LOL!

Two (or more) is way more fun than one, my two corgis love each other, and Kate the shepherd...well she is what I like to call the "fun police" when the corgis get going Kate is there to put a stop to it!

[quote=ZdogZ]Has anyone seen the Bow Wow Beanies by Ty? [quote]

I have seen them- yes, they are made just for dogs, no button eyes etc, no bean fillings. They look cute and some of them are "solid" shapes- i.e no arms, legs etc. The more solid the shape the less weak points in the toy.
My dogs always do really well with "ring" type toys- there is no obvious spot to start a hole!

Jackie had one of those fire hose toys . . . and it didn't take long for her to figure out that the seams are the vulnerable point and exploit it. That toy was "toast" in less than a week.

So, Jeni, I feel your pain. Jackie doesn't like the Kongs by themselves. But stuff them with treats, yogurt (& freeze) or peanut butter and . . . OH BOY!!! They are just the best things ever! I have not yet found a toy that Jackie can't destroy. She gets them all eventually. But try to stick to durable hard rubber toys, and stay away from toys that have lots of things sticking off them (ears, eyes, feet, etc.). Those are always the points of attack for Jackie. She zeroes in on the seams and goes to town! The more ball-like in shape, the better (for her, anyway).

Editing this after reading a few more posts on this thread. Jackie had the squirrels in log puzzle toy - log destroyed in one day, all 3 squirrels killed by the end of the week. We also had the Pull-A-Part vet toy - that lasted a month, but eventually went the way of the squirrels. The bone with rings has actually been holding its own for months now (knock on wood ). Jackie loves to play with the rings especially, and she loves it when we toss them up for her to catch. And the bones that Linda recommended have been holding up to my little "Jaws" quite well!

Yes, the Bow Wow Beanies are meant for dogs. PetSmart has been selling since the summer.

My friend's Lab loves her Beanies - she got a frog originally (which quickly had its legs amputated by "surgeon Lulu") and then she got another frog and a pink bone. Rhys and Andy were recently given two Beanie bones as presents - one pink for Andy, one black and white for Rhys - one already has a hole in it.
They do love them, though!

One thing, however - the squeakers are not very good and stop squeaking quickly.

My step-mom bought Zip and Zia's at Hallmark. I think they are really cute. The "crinkling" scares me to death. I jump up thinking that Zia is chewing up something she isn't supposed to. The squeaker probably won't last long at all with Zia...she just puts the toy in her mouth and squeaks and squeak and squeaks for what seems like forever!

Boy, am I glad that mine isn't the only corgi that goes for the seams first! Trevor also dismembered his fire hose toy in a couple of days - another $8 toy down the drain!

He will play with kongs until the treats come out - after that, he ignores them. Ditto with his Busy Buddy Treat Dispenser - after the food is gone, he has no interest. Recently he has started chewing on the nylabones we bought when we first got him - first dog I have EVER had that's shown an interest in them. Even those, though, get get ragged after a few weeks of constant chewing. I had to throw one away tonight that was worn down on one end. I have never seen such a small dog with such Monster Jaws.

Dudley goes for the seams as well and loves to rip off legs, arms, heads...he's not particular. I did buy him a $16 octopus from Petsmart that has eight fairly large tentacles that he drags with him EVERYWHERE. He actually hasn't killed this one and he's had it for a few months. The octopus did have a sprout of hair when we got it, but is now bald.

Jeni - I wanted to buy that octopus for Ace but Jim was worried about the legs so we bought the big snake instead. Ace just loves the snake. It has two squeakers and they are both replaceable. It even came with extra squeakers. As soon as I read your post about Dudley having the octopus I told Jim so as to "rub it in"! I think Ace might be getting a new toy sometime soon!!!

Fluffypants - Sounds like Ace and Jackie are one in the same! Although, I've got to hand it to Jackie for being able to destroy the squirrels so quickly! Ace demolished the tree as well but the squirrels are still in one piece. I have a pile of toys that need to be sewn due to Ace tearing off anything he can! But it is much easier to just go buy a new one...and more fun!

I feel your pain. A toy doesn't last Shippo more than 5 minutes now before he's torn it to shreds. So far the only toys that seem to last are rope toys, kongs, the non-edible greenies smart chews (durable), a nylabone or something like it (under CLOSE supervision because I STILL don't trust them).

Anything that squeaks is destroyed in a matter of MINUTES. Plushies used to last a while, but now he tears holes in them, rips the stuffing out, spreads it all over the floor, and tries to eat it.

Maybe I'll try one of those firehouse toys.

Dillon doesn't DO rope toys. Any of the booda ropes that you see with knots on both ends with strings coming out, he will pluck and pluck on the strings ( rather than chew on the bone part) and ingest a lot of cotton rope. I have tried rope toys on three occasions - all three ending up in the garbage can within a day due to my worrying about him ingesting the rope strings. The only rope that he was ok with were the Wham a Ham toss toy thing by fat cat toys ( I think) and it is a frisbee shaped thing , round rope- yes he destroyed part of the fabric pig in the middle but he did not manage to get to the frayed ends of the rope so it was a hit in my opinion.

I too have a firehose toy, DIllon went right for the ends and started to chew a hole in the seam end...it lasted and we do still have it, but when he discovers that he cannot rip a toy apart with ease - usually it goes to his bottom of the list of toys he wants to play with.

I went to Pet supplies plus and got a duck toy that has NO stuffing - that is a hit! he loves it, chews on the feet and hands, and squeaks it to pieces and even managed to put a tiny hole in it, but there is no stuffing for him to pull out. LIke shippo, Dillon wants to pull all the stuffing out and i am not sure how much gets ingested...so when there is a hole, the toy is thrown away ( some i did try to sew, but he went right for the weak seam and in a matter of minutes had the hole reopened again.

Cody does the same thing Emilie with the rope toys, he will chew on the strings rather than the rope itself. I had a couple of them and threw them away.

When my guys make a hole in a toy- I pull the rest of the stuffing out, and sew it up- no more stuffing.
The Dr.Noys toys (actually a KONG manufactured toy) are great for dogs who like to take stuffing out- they don't have any stuffing and have replacement squeakers. I use them in my agility classes as a treat 'n tug. They stand up pretty good to tugging and come in lots of fun animals (I have a purple pig, and a platypus)

Before I got the corgis' I used to have a fabulous toy box for Kate, it was filled to the brim with toys that had long since been sqeuaked to death but were still in one piece, and then along came Wicca, and then Sam. Now I have no more toy box and they only get selected toys for short periods. I leave hard balls (called Jolly Balls) and a few bones out for them as they are low value but the plush toys get put away after play.

Too funny - Jackie is just the same. Eats the ends of the rope toys (so I don't even try to buy them anymore), and wants to eat the stuffing out of everything else. I can't even give her tennis ball-type toys, because she has learned how to shear the fuzz off with her front teeth and eat it! And she also loses interest in toys that can't be destroyed. I have tried sewing toys with no success. Jackie systematically indentifies each toy's weakness, and remembers it when she gets it back (sewn) or gets a brand new one. Kind of like "I know how to solve this puzzle!!!". She's so proud of herself, and very confused when we take it away. I'm glad to hear that she's not the only Destructo-Dog . . . I guess she, Dillon, Shippo, Trevor & Dudley will all have to start their own toy company. They can manufacture toys out of titanium or something.
