It is totally a trial and error thing to see what they like, what is safe etc. I have tried so many of the toys on the market and found many great ideas but poor execution. Example is a toy called soniks- they have squeekers that the dog can hear but humans can't. This is wonderful becuase if you are working in an office ( as I was) and on the phone, a constant squeeking in the background is not cool. So I bought a bunch of these expensive plush toys with the silent squeeker..Dillon loved it, but he ripped them apart in no time flat. They are quiet small, 4-5 inches long - and very soft and easy to rip apart. See now why can't they take the technology and place that squeeker into something that is tough.
Eitherway I have bought so many different toys to see how he does with them and some that I thought would be a no go, were fine for him, and others that seem soooo tough had a weak spot discovered in mere minutes...you never know until you try them.

last month I went through Cody's toys and took the ones he never showed interest in and passed them down to a friend who has a Shih-tzu, and her dog plays with several of them - so at least they didn't go to waste

Do you have a Pet Supply Plus store by you?
Looks like Pet Supply Plus is mainly an east coast franchise. But I see where you can order from them online. Do you find that you like their merchandise much better than Petco or Petsmart (both local to me here in SoCal)?

I think most of their stuff is equivalent to petco and petsmart. They have a few items you just never see in the other chains, so in that respect they are pretty cool...but I also love to find the small holistic pet shops and such becuase often they will carry the better quality foods AND cool toys you just never see in the stores. I buy a lot of my dog toys on line. One place that has some toys i never see at petco and petsmart is www.sitstay.com They have some unusual toys. The only problem shopping on line is that you can't pick up and touch the toy and sometimes you have no idea how big or small it really is. A few times i have ordered things that i thought would be perfect for Dillon and when it arrived it was a bit too big or too small, but that is a rare occurance.

I shop a lot at Pet Supply Plus, mainly because it is only about 3 miles from my home and because I can buy the Natural Balance Dog food there and they also carry California Natural and some of the other good quality foods, which I can't get at PetSmart. It basically has everything I need in regards to dog and cat food/litter and things for their grooming, but it is a smaller store and they don't have the large selection of toys that Petco or PetSmart has.

Okay - update . . .
Last week I ordered some of those Dr. Noys toys when I read about them on this post. They were supposed ot be Christmas gifts. But they arrived yesterday and I was so excited to see what would happen, that I decided to give her ONE of them early. The lucky winner was the bunny. I gave bunny to Jackie around 7pm and by 9pm . . . bunny had one ear. The silver lining to this story, though, is that (because bunny has no stuffing) there was no need for bunny to go in the garbage. Once I removed the ear (which was hanging off), I was able to return bunny to Jackie for more playtime!

Granted, bunny is now a "Supervision Only" toy, but at least he's still in the game! Go Bunny!

All right! Good news for the bunny and Jackie! We'll have to look into getting one for Ace since it seems to be a big winner with Jackie. I don't think Ace is at Jackie's chewing power but close! Thanks for the good news. Go Bunny!
