I am in agreement with my fellow members who advocate research, and I am also not in favor of getting corgis from the internet, pet shops, or other questionable sources. Due to my years of corgi research, I was well prepared for my breeder interviews, and they were very pleased with my preparation. I truly believe that it's important to have as much information as possible before making such a life-altering decision! If the person is not VERY concerned about what kind of home you will give their pups, you must question what kind of home they have NOW. All of us here think of our corgis like our babies, so wouldn't we question the integrity and heart of someone who would breed these wonderful creatures and NOT be that attached?

Not to be smug, but why does it seem like an abundance of threads on this forum turn to this discussion? I am all for promoting research and the importance of finding the right breeder, but enough already.

Dewey's dad, glad to hear Dewey is doing great!

Edit: Sorry if I offended anyone, it's been a long week

I think that the threads turn may turn to that topic because, some members are looking for a pup, so many members have a young pup, and some of us have opposing opinions.

That, and the person that started the thread brought it up.

[Quote:]The breeder hasn't been very cooperative since the purchase -- right now it's pretty much a 'you bought it, leave me alone' type of thing. I can't seem to get in touch with her anymore. [quote]

Hope tomorow is better for you.

I agree in part with what Barbara said, but opinions such as this one:

Quote:
The breeder of Dewey is a disgrace. She should be exposed ( named, along with Kennel name and town/city/state) so as other people don't have to deal with a person unwilling to part with knowledge and lend assistance to new and obviously enthusiastic owners of the puppies they sell. If she is a regular breeder and not just a one-off breeder, then the person should be subject to a kind of code of conduct. In these sorts of incidences, you sometimes get a better deal, dealing with pet shops. I suppose, one can put a different but all too prevalent slant on her behaviour in the part of the USA you live in.
and the implication of a suggested course of action to follow, only reveal the naivete of the poster and his/her lack of knowledge and need for a reality check in matters concerning the majority of dog/puppy sales in the US. This provides a spring board in order to keep an owner, in this case Dewey's dad, from following bad advice.

While it is unfortunate Dewey's breeder is not helpful, this is not an exception to the norm, sadly. But you are right Jeni, there is a very enthusiastic new owner who needs friends with whom to share stories and ask questions of and that is how the thread should have proceded.

Ooops, No that wasn't a quote from Barbara/Corgimum. Should have drawn a line or made things a little clearer. Sorry IF there was any confusion caused.
