Smile Fluffy Corgi Questions - 12-10-2006, 09:25 AM

Hello All,
I am new here and need to ask a question. We have previously owned a non-fluffy corgi and were recently thinking of getting a fluffy one. Can you tell when they are puppies how fluffy they will be? Does anyone have pictures of their fluffy as a puppy then as an adult? I would be curious to see them all grown up. Also if you have any advice or words of wisdom about owning a fluffy versus a non? Thanks in Advance.
Heather

Hello Heather, I am not a fluffy owner, but we have some beautiful ones on here. If you click on this link below, you can read some discussion on Fluffy Corgis. Also, "LuvMyFluffy" made a post dated 11/1/06 in the thread where you can click on the "community webshots" link they provided and see pictures of him from a pup into adulthood and how he looks.

http://www.gocorgi.com/forums/geneti...light=Fluffies

Also, if you go up above and click on Members and go to Members gallery, Go to Fluffypants, ChloeLouise, Cheetah, and LuvMyFluffy and you can see pictures of their beautiful dogs.

I am sure they will be able to fill you in on so much more.

Welcome

Thanks, Linda, for the compliment! Yes, I think ChloeLouise is GORGEOUS, too - and I think I speak for other people owned by Fluffs, that we are particularly partial to Fluffies! I understand the whole "out of conformation", "genetic defect" argument - but I am REALLY pleased to have my "flawed" little gal!! I NEVER intended to breed my dog and NEVER intended to show her, so when I picked Chloe out of her litter of 11, I based my decision on her character and friendly personality - however, I confess, I was HEAVILY influenced by her "cuteness factor"... I didn't know there were "Fluffies" at the time we acquired ChloeLouise, but I was naturally attracted to the fuzziest puppies in the litter...('Butters' on this site is Chloe's littermate and she is a LOVELY Fluffy, also)... When ChloeLouise became more and more furry as she grew, I began to question and research. She is probably a moderately Fluffy Corgi - I think Shippo has a heavier coat, judging by his photos... We get lots of comments when we are out and about - mostly "Why does your Sheltie have such sort legs?" and other "What kind of dog is that?" questions! And aside from the grooming issues associated with her long RUMP fur and nasty mats that form behind her ears, there is nothing different about her than any other mischievious, strong-willed little Corgi!!
Here is a link to my Flickr site - I have a few other photos there of Chloe as a puppy that you might enjoy!

Fluffypants and I both have dogster sites, and I think I have seen Shippo there also - be sure to check those out, too!

welcome Heather - I am mom to Dillon ,a 1 1/2 yr old red and white pembroke and he came from a litter of three boys, his two brothers were both fluffies and oh so cute. The little puppy you are looking at getting is sooo cute! She is precious! The fluffies are really beautiful looking dogs- You should check out the member's gallery- the people that Corgimom mentioned in her post to see some of the most beautiful fluffies. Fluffies range in how long and how much hair they have- I have seen some that are "mildly fluffy" and others that have very very long hair that needs to be trimmed often.

This is Shippo before I got him. These were taken when he was 6 weeks old. I didn't get him for another 6. >^^;<

Yes, his name was Gizmo before I got him... lmao...

Here is Shippo now, at 10 and 11 months old:

I think he is getting ready to blow his coat, because he is starting to shed more than normal. I'm not expecting him to get the permanent length to his coat until after he is 12-18 months old. My friend's rough collie didn't get his until around that time. I know, that's not a corgi, but it gave me a general idea. >^^;<

BTW, that is an ADORABLE puppy! <3

OH!!! The CUTENESS!!! That is one fuzzy pup, Heather!! ...And I LOVE the assymetrical muzzle marking! Male? Female? Have you spent time with him/her to get an idea of temperment? Since you have had a Corgi before you know what personality traits to look at... OH!!! I FEEL A CASE OF PUPPY FEVER COMING ON!!! ...especially after seeing those puppy photos of (Gizmo)/Shippo!! DARLING!!

It is a girl. Yes my family spent time with her and her brothers and sisters on Saturday. She has such a great temperment. And loved giving kisses to all of us. I don't know why I'm hesitant in making my desicion. She just doesn't "look" like a typical corgi to me. Although she is so beautiful and I think I want to name her Bella.

She looks just like Shippo did when he was a pup.

I love the name Bella.
